Ok 1st off just let me say I am not a Final Fantasy player at all. Matter of fact I never owned any Final Fantasy games EVER. Sure I borrowed some games here and there over the years, just to play it.
But I never beat a Final Fantasy game, mainly because I just couldn't get into it. That being said, came today, I was off today, went to the game aisle of the store, to see what was coming out and seen this game, along with posters all over the darn aisle.
I looked at it and said hmmm, I will take it, give it a whirl and if I don't care for it, I would sell it on ebay or something. Made it home, popped the game into the 360.
First I must say this game being on 3 discs was kind of like wow.....It is on 3 discs for the 360 version only, dvd9 can only hold so much ya know. Didn't care for how they just stacked all 3 discs on one peg either.
Opening cut scenes came on and I was thinking wow this graphics look hell of good. But then I thought well Dragon Age has a cool opening scene too but the in game graphics don't look nothing like that. So I kind of thought ok I want to see what the in game play looks like.
Pretty long opening scene for this game. Longer then what I expected. During this time I flipped through the instruction book. Instruction made the game controls seem way complicated. But in reality it isn't.
I am amazed how good the in game graphics are for this game. They are hands down the best looking graphics for the 360 currently. Even better then Mass Effect 2 graphics, which is really saying something.
So far being this is a linear game, seems easy. Combat is easy so far, you basically just press one button over and over again. After an hour in, I was starting to get bored with the combat already.
Grant it they say the longer you play, the more moves you unlock. Currently in the beginning of the game, you only have 2 moves. This is a far cry from Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age, where I was use to having a variety of moves in the beginning of the game already.
That aisde, this has the potential to be a great game. Mainly because of the character interactions....Shaz or whatever his name is, the guy with the bird is funny. He will have you laughing for sure.
Over all I give this game a solid 9.

interesting to see your take on it considering you haven't really played any of the others for an extended period of time. i really enjoy this game, but the downside to what you said about it being linear....is that it does open up completely...albeit 11 chapters and ~16-20hrs into it.
