Hands down, this is the best sports game this generation of console gaming and maybe the best ever. Why it has even surpassed the alimighty MLB The Show with it's realism.

The live ball physics is a thing of beauty to see. Missed shots are much more unpredictable now. Literally it can bounce off anywhere in any direction. This makes boxing out that much important this year. In the past one was always able to get away with not boxing out. This year the CPU will eat you alive on the glass if you don't box out.

Not only is boxing out is important, but running plays is extremely important as well. The days of freestyling it and just relying on your iso stick skills are over. You will end up getting stripped or your lay up getting blocked from the weak side help.

I am very impressed with the CPU AI. After a long summer of playing football games that don't use their special moves, it is a breathe of fresh air to see the CPU use them. You will see players play to their abilities. Good post men will sky hook and spin off on you. Good ball handleers will leave you in the dust with their cross overs and spinning lay ups.

Good passers will make your jaw drop with their mid air passes and passes to the cutter. Fast breaks are back and are awesome to see. Now let us move to the heart of the matter: The Legends

The legends on here are a blast to play. Even better this year because all you have to do is WIN to unlock them. Don't have to worry about reaching a certain stat, just WIN. Easier said then done though. Wins definitely don't come easy this year.

But it is nice seeing the different uniforms, rules they had back then in the 70s that you kind of take for granted now. Who doesn't get goose bumps seeing Kareem, Magic, Jerry West, Wilt, Dr J, Bird, etc. And they all play like they did in real life.

Commentary is top notch. It isn't just some mindless dribble either. They talk about their history, the team, player stats, etc. Best commentary in a sports game EVER. Kind of like you watching a NBA trivia show with the wealth of information they talk about.

Lock out or not......this game is a must buy for any basketball fan. With the amount of legend teams on here, the replay value of this game is through the roof. They got every aspect of the sport CORRECT. Plays work like they suppose to work. Tactics WORK like they suppose to.

All sports game developers need to play NBA 2K12 for they can see what a sports game SUPPOSE TO look like and play like. Every aspect of a sport should be represented in your sports game. NBA 2K12 does an excellent job with this.

If it is in the game, it is in the game. Strive for realism. NBA 2K12 once again proves one DOESN'T need competition to come out with an excellent game. This is the only basketball game coming out this year. But did they take it easy and coast off their name recognition ? NO, no they didn't.

Online servers are still pretty spotty at best.....

i love the commentary i this game. it sounds so smooth and organic .i like the fact that when marve,steve and carlk asked if they could adlib some of the lines and 2k said sure why not thats why i think it sounds like your watching a real game .
