Ever since NBA 2K11 everybody has been up in arms with the word sim. Kind of an obsession for some people it seems. Being in that forum everyday since release, I have noticed a lot of people won't play on any level that doesn't say sim.

Ladies and gentlement let me bring you back to reality. Sim play style is nothing but a slider set. Nothing more, nothing less. What is so funny about it is that you have people who edit some of sliders under sim and still say they play on sim play style with a few edits.

When in reality you can't do that. Change one of the sliders under sim and it automatically goes from sim to custom. Nothing wrong with that, I play on custom, a good number of people play on custom. How ever it seems as though too many people are caught up in the word sim and don't want to admit they have to play on custom.

I don't know if it is a ego thing or pride thing or what. Sim is a slider set. Even Mike Wang himself has said it on various websites what it was. Sim, default and casual are all slider sets. Mike Wang even said what all the new tendancies do in the game such as touches, isolation, give n go, use glass, etc does.

But of course most people wouldn't know that if they only read one website. Don't get me wrong, NBA 2K11 is the best sports game I have played this year. However in the same breathe don't fool yourselves into thinking this game don't need tweaks here and there.

Do players move off ball on default ? No. Even with auto plays on, if the play breaks down, they will just stand there like a bump on the log. Do the right players on teams take most of the shots ? No. Touches tendancy across the board is out of whack. And isolation on freelance is maxed out on all the players, which causes them to just stand there like a bump on the log.

Are all the playbooks correct for all the teams ? No, because some teams have new coaches and they are still using the same playbook from their last year team that don't even fit their current team.

Bottom line, don't be afraid to edit things in the game to make it more realistic. I see way too many people in the forum with the mindset Sim setting is the only setting to play on. Or editing rosters is cheating. Editing tendancies is not cheating, it is making them play the way they should be playing.

Open up your eyes. Take those Sim blinders off. If you see an average power forwards shooting the ball 30 times a game or more and they not even an all star player, that's not sim. If you see a center constantly posting up in the high post and you know damn well that player doesn't do that in real life, that's not sim.

The tools are there in the game. Use them.

Nice write up. Although I like to play on Sim-Pro....I may be switching to Custom until the patches arrive.

You are the man, I think Skillz, it is people wanting other people to think they are cool, it a fad man. Look play the game you want to have fun, most of these proclaimed SIM PPL are the ones that have to glitch or cheeze or what ever the H3LL it is called now online, because if not they get their a$$e$ spanked. My view is I play for Fun. I like to play "realistic games" over an Arcade style myself. I am also over 30 and maybe I am just old. But the point is to have fun. Great read sorry for my Rant, keep em coming brother....

i have been thinkig that since a month before the game came out. people should play games for th fun of it not to make sure amare stoudimire gets exactly 26.7 pts per game.

Obviously this blog just went right over your head. Because if you read it carefully you would have seen I said sim is more then just a word. Sim is a style of play and just putting the game on "sim" settings don't make it "sim". Straight out of the box this game isn't 100% sim.

Don't matter how sim you play, that doesn't effect the idiotic things the cpu AI does. Which is why I was telling people don't be afraid to change the sliders to fix the cpu play.

Which is why you have people editing rosters, playbooks, tendancies, sliders and releasing their files on 2k share.
