Detailed Recap:
The number one story for week 5 has to be the only game that went into overtime, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the Chicago Bears. It was a typical good game that you would hope for and after four quarters both teams found themselves with 24 points each. Overtime had to be played to try to determine a winner, and with the Bears getting the first possession then marched down the field and were able to score the game winning touchdown making the final score 24 to 30.
Next up is the New Orleans Saints hosting the New York Giants. This year the Giants have brought it, at least so far, and proved to be a worthy opponent against the Saints. Ultimately, New Orleans won 23 to 27, but that is only a 3pt win so the Giants most definitely did not make it easy. The other reason this game is worth mentioning is because the Saints remain undefeated after the first five weeks. The other team that went into week 5 undefeated, the Cleveland Browns, suffered their first loss making the Saints the sole undefeated team left. Will they be able to complete a perfect season like their divisional rival, the LA Rams? We will just have to wait and see how the next 11 weeks play out.
Speaking of the Rams, the next story takes to LA where the St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Rams. This seemed like it was an open and closed case, Rams were gonna take the Cardinals to the cleaners. As we have learned in the previous weeks, this season we should not count out the Cardinals. They were able to hang in there with the Rams for the whole game making it a very competitive game. In the end, the Rams overcame the Cardinals and won, but only by a field goal, with a final score of 21 to 24. This is one interesting season so far, if you ask me.
Finally, we head to Houston where the Cleveland Browns came to town to play the Oilers. Last year, the Browns lost both games against the Oilers and now they make it three straight losses to Houston. The Houston Oilers have the Browns strategy down pat as they managed to pick up a 20 to 27 win and continue their win streak over Cleveland.
There you have, week 5's recap and results. Be sure to check back on Sunday for the recap of all the action in week 6. Thank you all for reading, and I'll see you here next time!
