Detailed Recap:
Championship Sunday started with the NFC Championship game being played in Los Angeles where the Rams took on the Green Bay Packers. The game started out quick and never lost it's pace. It was a close game and both teams really showed that they both deserved to be there. The Rams got the early lead and held onto it going into halftime. The Packers got the ball to start the second half and got a touchdown on the opening drive to bring their deficit down to just 7. The Los Angeles Rams were able to keep their potent offence going and were able to put down the Packers to win the NFC Championship! The Rams now move onto Superbowl XIII where they will try to complete their perfect season. The came into the post season as 16-0 and have made it all the to the Superbowl. We'll have to wait until Monday, February 4th to find out if they have done what only the Miami Dolphins have managed to accomplish.
The AFC Championship took place following the NFC Championship game. The San Diego Chargers went into Kansas City to play the Chiefs for the AFC Championship title and a Superbowl appearance. The first half was somewhat low scoring as San Diego lead by 10 points, 16-6, only allowing the Chiefs to get field goals. Kansas City were still behind going into the fourth quarter, but only trailed by 7. A single possession game stood between the Chiefs and a Superbowl appearance. The Chiefs were unable to overcome the strong San Diego defense and could not stop the powerful Chargers offense and ultimately lost to San Diego 30-23 send the Chargers to Superbowl XIII. The Chargers beat the #1 seeded Pittsburgh Steelers to make it to the AFC Championship game. There the Chargers beat the #2 seeded Kansas City Chiefs and now they move on to face the undefeated, NFC #1 seeded Los Angeles Rams to try to complete their "Cinderella Story". Only time will tell.
With both Championship games in the books, we look ahead to Superbowl XIII where the San Diego Chargers will take on the Los Angeles Rams in a battle for southern California. The Rams of course, will be wearing their home uniforms as they are a higher seed, and the Chargers will continue to wear their away uniforms which they seem to be very comfortable in.
