Wanted to take a second to discuss the fastest and most efficient ways to accumulate skill points.
I know this annoys a lot of people but I would recommend mostly playing key games. Obviously you make less skill points per season. You could probably be 99 overall by the end of you second year if you play every game, but if you want to double your points and get out of your rookie contract you pretty much need to play key games. Also not playing every game gives your player a slower, more realistic progression throughout his career (players don't really go from a 60 to an 80 in one year). Hopefully this blog will even show people how NOT becoming a super star by your second season can be satisfying in a lot of ways.
Also if you're good enough at at least getting an A+ player rating (a critical source of skill points) it is recommended that you SAVE ALL YOUR DRILLS till the very end of EACH season. You lose them once the regular season ends. The reason for doing it is any increase you receive to an attribute from a gold star in a drill is worth MORE if you've increased that skill during the season with your skill points (an increase to mid-range shooting from 80 to 81 is more valuable than from 60 to 61). You essentially gain skill points by using your drills as late in your players development as possible. This is of course offset by the fact that if you're better earlier in the season you can theoretically do better in those games and get more skill points so it's up to you to weigh how well you think you can do without the drills help.
Chris Smoove once again makes a great video to show people how to do the dribble course drill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnVO-...el_video_title but what he doesn't note here, which might be because he didn't know at the time, is that a drill will no longer add to a stat catergory if it's at its max. That means instead of having to turn off autosave and keep redoing the dribble course to up speed (which makes sense because it's the most costly attribute) you can use your skill points from games early on to max out things like stamina, layup and offhand dribbling. What that will do is every time you get gold in the dribble course the game will randomly select to add between speed quickness or ball handling, giving you a one out of three chance of getting speed. This essentially DOUBLES your chance of getting speed from the dribble course (1 out of 3 to speed instead of 1 out of 6). If that's too confusing for anyone just listen to me when I tell you to max out stamina, layup and off hand dribbling before doing the above video.
