This week the US lost to Sweden in women’s soccer, Mexico is all but eliminated from Copa America, and the Seattle Storm are the defending champions of the WNBA. These are all things that I only know because American sports have hit a new all time low. We are now back in a place where baseball is our rock that we cling to for sporting entertainment, and that’s just not a fun place to be.

Speed Kills
In football they say that speed kills, and right now it’s speed that is killing the Oakland Raiders. Unfortunately for the franchise Al Davis seems to be too slow to realize that everyone in the NFL is fast and some things are more important than how fast someone can run the 40.
The Raiders have been known for surprising people with their first round picks, but this year they have outdone even themselves. By picking Darrius Heyward-Bey with Michael Crabtree ... Read More

Ever since the Super Bowl ended this year I cannot stop thinking about how overrated winning the Super Bowl is. I know that in sports the emphasis is always placed on winning championships, but I think in the NFL there is far too much emphasis placed on the Super Bowl win. Placing all the importance on the post season tournament isn’t going to give you the best team when there is a one and done format like the NFL.
Because of the tournament, one and done system, winning the Super ... Read More

After cruising through the Madden forums this evening on OS I can't help but notice how much hatred there is for the game. There are definitely many out there that make constructive criticism, and others wish they could see improvements in areas that would equal other titles, but for many it just seems to be all about how Madden is an inferior game to other titles of the past.
I too have enjoyed past titles, and hated to see them disappear, or rather be beaten out of existence by ... Read More

I continue to find myself impressed with the great improvements to this years Madden gameplay. Unfortunately the franchise mode I’ve just found to be lacking any sort of excitement to keep me going. Once I reached the end of my season I’ve been looking for other ways to enjoy the gameplay. Unfortunately online hasn’t been an option for me lately, which led me to discovering the Madden Moments.

It’s great to see that EA has finally decided that the calendar year is more than the start of the NFL season, and the months leading up to Christmas. Releasing Tiger Woods 10 & Grand Slam Tennis in mid-June seems like a genius move to me. I’ve always thought that EA’s release schedule is bit silly, releasing games in what seems like weekly during the fall. I’ve stood back and looked in awe marveling as gamers with seemingly bottomless wallets stepped up to buy all these new titles that are piled ... Read More

At Operation Sports the motto for most gamers has always seemed to be realism above all else. I’d say that I’ve always put myself into that same group, a sports gamer searching for a game that gives as authentic a sporting experience as possible, but now I’m not so sure.
This week the weather here in Phoenix has been beautiful and it got me in the mood for some golf, so I popped in Tiger Woods 08 (I know, how retro of me, but I don’t have 09). It had been a while since I’d played ... Read More
