Hatred Runs Deep in Some
Posted on March 26, 2009 at 03:38 AM.
After cruising through the Madden forums this evening on OS I can't help but notice how much hatred there is for the game. There are definitely many out there that make constructive criticism, and others wish they could see improvements in areas that would equal other titles, but for many it just seems to be all about how Madden is an inferior game to other titles of the past.

I too have enjoyed past titles, and hated to see them disappear, or rather be beaten out of existence by EA. But unfortunately this is the world that we live in. They may come back one day, but the past titles that are loved so much still exist for you to play. So put it in your console and enjoy.

If you dislike Madden so much, why live in the Madden forum, just waiting to pile onto the game any chance you see. If there are other titles out there that are better than Madden, it seems like instead of complaining you should rejoice. You already have the title, instead of complaining you could be playing it and enjoying yourself instead of scour the forums looking for threads to ravage. You don't have to wait until August just to be let down. If you don't already own it, or have the title anymore I'm sure you can pick it up at a fraction of the price of what Madden 10 will cost this year.

Life is too short, spend time enjoying what you love, not spinning your wheels grinding against what you hate.

Definitely not trying to say people shouldn't have their own opinions twiztid. I can completely respect where you're coming from on having no interest in Madden until everything is fair game, and frankly hope that does win out so we do get more NFL titles. Having an opinion is great, and the fact that people care and have opinions is why sites like this can exist. It's not opinions I'm tired of, it's people that are only looking to complain without spreading anything positive to the community.

I have always gotten a kick out of the people who love to throw EA under the bus about the license while giving the NFL a pass.

As if, when approached by the NFL, EA should have said "nah we're all set - we'll just let the best selling sports franchise of all time, and cornerstone of the EA Sports brand die."

Personally any ill will I have toward Madden comes not from some licensing agreement, but instead from the flaming bags of dog feces they've stamped "Madden" the past several years.

I think the exclusive agreement is the trigger that sets people off the most. I can't blame EA for taking the deal. The games could be better but, for the most part sell over one MILLION copies on day one alone. so if it sucks so bad why do we line up and buy it every stinking year. I mean people can have opinions but some people just take it over the top and the rest of us just point out what could make the game better. Getting online and saying "this game sucks" doesn't help anything.

That's a great point Bly about people only being mad at EA about the whole exclusive thing. Very true that what EA was doing was cornering the market on it to help make sure they continue to thrive, which is what a business is suppose to do.

Where as the NFL should wanted multiple companies it seems, since the more games they have out there the more spread out their product becomes getting to the highest number of people. But instead I guess they went for the quick cash grab for a big contract like they do with Direct TV.
