NEW MEXICO LOBOS
Year 1 - 2013 5-7
Coach Tony D'Amato Jr takes over the Lobos football program with his up tempo pass heavy offense. This is a big leap for the son of the legendary Tony D'Amato in his first head coaching job. His offenses are known for throwing 60-70 passes per game avg only time will tell if Sophomore Freddie Moore can handle the high volume of passes he is expected to throw this year.
Early on the Lobos jumped out to a surprising 4-2 start before injuries and wear-n-tear started to set it. Moore as expected broke the Lobos passing yards and touchdown passes records. Senior WR H. Williams also set new Lobos records for receptions & receiving yards.
Lobos only managed to win 1 of their remaining games but did land 4* QB Willie Martinez out of Texas as well as 4* WRs Burke & Cary. Defense has it's problems adjusting to the new 3-4 format but the incoming recruiting class will bring some new blood to the LB & CB cores.
Year 2 - 2014 8-5
Year 2 brings new life to Coach Tony high tempo offense. Starting some true freshman that better fit his system including WR duo Burke (88 catches) and Cary (91 catches) who would prove to be outstanding fits for the Lobos new offense. Cary would earn Freshman All American honors for his stellar season which set new Lobos records for catches, receiving yards & TDs. Three of the final 4 wins came in the last 2 minutes of the game so one could say New Mexico over achieved this year as their 48-28 bowl game loss to Arizona State proved.
The wear-n-tear of throwing almost 70 passes a game would sideline Freddie Moore for 2 games. True Freshman Willie Martinez and his big arm got the start in those two games. Despite missing playing time Moore would break his own passing records from the previous season.
A nice improvement with 8 wins in Coach Tony's second season as Head Coach. On the recruiting trail coach continues to focus on bringing in his style of players to fit the offense. OL will be the primary focus as the Lobos lose 5 men off the OL in the next 2 seasons. In a shocking decision 5* ATH Travis White selected to play at New Mexico over all the big name Texas schools. He will join the WR core next year.
This is the dynasty where I am playing every game using the Minimum Changes, Maximum Results (Sliders). Might just post results in story format instead of the norm end of the year box score stats.
