A Freshman Emerges
"My heart can barely take it no more," said Michael Scott, mimicking a southern drawl. Quite peculiar, yet a pretty honest statement after the defensive battle that took place this afternoon.
The UNLV Rebels outlasted the Utah Utes and walked away with 2OT victory, 23-17.
The unsung hero of the afternoon had to be Mike Clausen, the redshirt freshman QB who came in relief of the injured Omar Clayton late in the 2nd half. Clausen would prove to be the catalyst, connecting on 9 of 11 pass attempts and throwing the first touchdown in OT. A 24 Yd strike that kept UNLV's hopes alive. Omar Clayton would return in the 2nd OT and seal the deal with a 1 Yd dump pass to win.
Michael Scott added after the game, "In all my years as a Dunder Mifflin regional manager, I have never had to think so hard in my life... I just kept thinking about cooking some bacon on my George Foreman grill after the game, and that pushed me through."
The UNLV Rebels move to 1-1 on the season.
