Lakers Back Together and my Thoughts
Posted on August 14, 2010 at 09:18 PM.
Well the Lakers managed to hold on to every major piece that they could have lost in free agency. (Except for Jordan Farmar) And after watching the Heat build their roster, Obviously they are going to be a threat to the Lakers eventually if not this year. and you know how I feel about "Band wagon fans" already (See 1st blog entry).

But the Lakers are looking good this year. Yeah we lost Farmar and I had really high hopes for the kid from Cali. But it wasn't meant to be. Besides him we managed to snag everyone else back to the team and brought in Steve Blake and Matt Barnes.

So we didn't bring in any big name free agents, But we made our roster moves years ago so there really wasn't a major need to. I am excited to see how we match up with the now more depleted western conference, seeing how many big name free Agents left the west.

One thing I am interested to see play out through out the season is.... Is this really going to be Phil Jackson's last stand? I have a hard time believe it will be if they three-peat (although there is the "Go out on top" Factor like Elway and Jerome Bettis). but if they do lose.... Then there is almost 100% no doubt in my mind that he will call it a career.

Ebanks is also looking good as one of our Rookie Draft picks. It will be fun to see how he develops (as well as Character).

That's just my 2 cents again...but Any comments feel free to chime in. Love to see other peoples opinions.

Im a huge lakers fan as well. I believe the lakers are a better team than last year. Steve Blake is an upgrade over Farmar. Barnes is a good backup for Artest and Bryant and Theo Ratliff is a good shot blocker and rebounder. I also like the rookie Derrick Caracter. He showed some potential in the summer league. If Bynum can actually be 100 percent in the playoffs then the Lakers will three-peat easily. I dont agree that the west got weaker. The Thunder are better because of the development of their young players, the Blazers are a better team with Oden and Pryzbilla back, and the Rockets have Yao back (trading Ariza was a step back though). I believe the Lakers will win the west but Im not underestimating any team in our conference.
