The Seahawks rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Detroit Lions Sunday afternoon in Seattle.

The Lions (1-7) jumped out to a 17-0 lead, but the Seahawks (3-5) scored 25 unanswered points en route to a 32-20 victory.

The Seahawks defense picked off five passes, one returned 61-yards for a touchdown by Josh Wilson. Seattle’s defense sacked Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford twice and recovered a fumble.

After turning the ball over in their first three possessions, Seattle stormed back behind Matt Hasselbeck’s arm. Hasselbeck completed a franchise record 39 passes, including 15 straight at one point, for 329 yards and one touchdown and interception.

"[Hasselbeck] shows his true leadership to me. He showed everything that he is," said Seattle coach Jim Mora. "I don't know if I have had any more respect for any player I've ever coached."

All wasn’t well for the Seahawks in the first quarter, falling behind 17-0. In their first six plays from scrimmage there was an interception, a fumble, two yards for a negative gain and a failed fourth down conversion in Seattle’s own end.

“I didn’t know that we would come back and win the way we did, but I didn’t have any doubts that we would respond. No, I didn’t,” said Mora.

"I don't care who you're playing, if you have Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, whoever at quarterback -- Troy Aikman -- you don't want to get down 17-0,” said Seattle’s outspoken receiver, TJ Houshmenzahdeh. “We’re just fortunate [to win], "t could be that we were playing Detroit”

Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with receivers on eight of his first ten passes with two touchdowns. After that it went downhill with five interceptions.

"You have to understand, I can't turn the ball over. I [gave] it right back to them," Stafford said.

When asked about Stafford’s play, Lions’ coach Jim Schwartz said “We need to do a better job helping our quarterback out."

Seattle is now two games out of first place in their division behind the Arizona Cardinals, whom they play next week. A win at University of Phoenix Stadium against the Cardinals would be gain huge ground for not just the division lead, but a playoff appearance.
