DoubleJMix965's Blog
So it's been a couple days....ok...several months since I've written up a blog. Not that I didn't have anything on my mind, I just never found the right amount of time to put it all out here. But I believe today I can get around to a few things.
It's been a pretty productive run of months since I last blogged. In NBA 2k11, I was the 2014 season MVP. I got to the point to where My Player was just rocking. But, I put the game down in favor of MLB The Show for the baseball months. I ran that for a bit, but got a touch tired. I actually became excited for football this year (I'm not a big football fan, gaming wise and real sport both) so I picked up both of the football titles. First time I had done that in quite some time to be honest with you. First NCAA game for me since 08 and first Madden since 09. They're good games for what they are. Enough to whet my appetite for football gaming.
However, in recent days, its become more and more apparent to me that NBA 2k is going to be taking over my 360 in a few weeks. NBA 2k12, by all accounts, looks to be the best basketball (and quite possibly sports game) of all time. Now, I may be showing favoritism because I love basketball. Sorry to you soccer and hockey fans out there. I know that FIFA and NHL both have great games. In all honesty, I intend to try NHL 12 at some point. But NBA 2k12 has not only brought in legends (and their teammates) but it has FINALLY addressed the things in My Player that have hindered it in recent years. My Player has been my favorite mode since they brought that about, but, it always seemed like it was a bit poorly executed, and almost repetitive to a point. Not L.A. Noire repetitive, but still repetitive enough in its own right. With 2k12 having the ability to skip games, that is already something that excites me. Being able to negotiate contracts is ALWAYS something I wanted to see, and now, earning a paycheck? Great job, 2k! You have REALLY listened to your fans and supporters and to not rest on your laurels of such a great game from a year ago, but instead produce a BETTER game, you have earned my utmost respect.
That makes me question other companies. It seems like many fans of the Madden and NCAA series, year after year, voice their opinion on things that they don't like in the games. Now, I know that with opinions, it may not be shared by many people. However, from my research on various boards, it seems like there's a wealth of people sharing opinions on these games, even in reviews from reputable game sites, people are looking for changes that seem to still be in the game. Does 2K value the opinion of others more? Is EA sports "too big" to care about people? Or do they feel that whatever is thrown out, it's going to sell? I ask these questions about a lot of things...music, movies, etc. In today's economy, it doesn't make sense to me to release something that is going to get any backlash, but at the same time, does a franchise name instantly mean success?
I guess I'm not a heavy enough gamer in the football arena to have much of opinion. As I stated earlier, the game is fun for what it is and some of the things I don't know about football may keep me from noticing little bugs/glitches. However, with basketball, there's always something that I'm going to catch and it seems like 2k, since around 2k5, have been doing their best to try and remedy those things. My hats off to them. Be expecting my $60 come October! Until next time GO CRAZY FOLKS! GO CRAZY!
