NBA 2k11 My Player Wrap Up!
Posted on December 8, 2010 at 01:53 PM.
It took me a while to get to this point (co-habitating with the girlfriend, working alot, holidays, you know) but I have finally made it through my first season on NBA 2k11. Here's a bit of my recap.

I started out my career being selected 28th by the New Jersey Nets in the first round. I was surprised that my great teammate scores translated into a spot on the NBA team roster to start the season and no NBADL play for me. Starting out getting about 5 minutes for a while was rough. Coupled with a few injuries early, I didn't really get off my feet until I was traded.

I joined the Utah Jazz in November and from there my game stepped up. I went from bench guy to 6th man in about 2 weeks, and from there into the starting lineup shortly thereafter. Now, I am getting 38 minutes a game, averaging 13 points per game (I play on 6 minute quarter) 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game. I think the trade out west mentally got me prepared for more competition, plus playing for a winning team helped.

At the end of the season, the Jazz finished at 58-24 to take 2nd in the West right behind the Lakers, who managed to go 61-21. In the first round of the playoffs, we were able to dispatch the #7 seed Sacramento Kings in 4 games. The second round put us up against the Mavericks in which we took them out in game 7 after a heroic performance by yours truly, putting up 31 points, 11 boards and 9 assists. So dang close! However, the playoffs would end in the Western Conference finals, as the Lakers beat us in 6 games and would subsequently go on to win the NBA Championship, rematching the Boston Celtics (who coincidentally beat out the Heat in the Eastern final.)

I won the Rookie of the Year award and finished 2nd in the MVP voting! I was stoked about that. For not getting to play the game much, I was happy to be able to accomplish those feats, especially in 6 minute quarters and not much time for drills and such.

Now I am debating on trying to get traded out of Utah, or ride it out. My only complaint is that my teammates aren't as effective post-patch as they once were. Deron Williams holds the ball too long alot, Raja Bell and Mehmet Okur shoot 3's with reckless abandon. But I have heard that many people are experiencing that, so I don't feel slighted haha. I just adjust and play my game. Being on a winning team was fun. I do want to end up on the Bulls at some point though. Maybe if my career lasts long enough, I can do the "hold out for more money" option like I did in MLB: The Show. That's always fun.

Here's to my next season, wherever I may play at, leading to an MVP award and hopefully a ring! I won't quit this game til I get the ring! Jeez now I sound like my girlfriend. I digress! Great job 2k sports on this game. Thank you for giving us such a fun playable game. And shoot I haven't even touched the Jordan games or Association mode! Talk about great options! Anyone else having as enjoyable of an experience? I sure hope so!

Til next time go crazy folks! Go crazy!

Great post, I have having a great time with this game as well. I have started myown assoication with a fantasy draft and surrounded my team around Russell Westbrook and things have been going well. I also join an online thing which is amazing when you get people playing true sim style basketball and not abusing the glitches. So many things to be done with this game and we are only 1 month into the NBA season. I see playing this game to the MLB The Show comes out in March or so.

sadly, there's no option regarding your contract negotiations at the end of the season...well not that i've seen or heard from...2k didnt include the financial aspect of basketball aside from the cap room on a team

vegas83, I believe I'll be playing this until The Show comes out as well. I'm not a football fan so much, so I may only have to worry about 2 sports titles per year at this rate haha! Thanks for the comment!

Enigma, I guess that makes sense since you can ask for trades freely. Oh well. Maybe that'll be coming for 2k12. I think it would be cool in The Association mode if they did like Madden where you can adjust tickets and marketing and such.

I can't get the game out of my XBOX 360... I try to play other games but I can't play anything else for a long period... most, no all my time is spent in MP too. I'm currently into my 2nd season with my 1st MP black screened on me...but fixed after patch...
Anyways.. I was drafted 1st round by OKC and still play there, I won MVP, Rookie of the year and 6th Man awards I can't crack the starting line up because I "back up" Durant... I was about to leave during free agency but the team I want to play for was not available(Knicks). Oh well better luck next time I guess
