Offense Preview:
QB- Grade: C+
Starter: K.Roach Sr (RS) Ovr: 83
Analysis:
"Leading passer in 09 even though he missed 3 games due to injury. Needs to be leader in last yr and cut down int numbers. Coach won't hesitate to put in JR H.Ostrander who went 3-1 last yr when Roach was out with injury."

HB- Grade: C
Starter: D.McMillan FR (RS) 78
Analysis:
"Was redshirt last yr but has skills to takeover #1 spot even with D.Heath last yr's #2 back returning. Depth is key C.Toth and J.Moore waiting in wings if either top 2 get injured or falter."

FB- Grade: D
Starter: J.Norwood JR 71
Analysis:
"Norwood is a quality fullback in both passing and running game. Hawk's would be in trouble if he misses any extended time as his one backup is nowhere near quality he is."

WR- Grade: C+
Starters: C.Crooks SR 85, B.Robinson SR 81
Analysis:
"WR and QB are 2 of the deepest positions the Hawk's have on offense. B.Robinson led the team in receptions last yr and Crooks looks to fill in the departed J.Leonard's shoes leading team in tds and yards. The real depth is behind the 2 starters as they have 4 good young backups ready to breakout. Redshirt freshman E.Winston is looking for a great year after learning system from sidlines last yr."

TE- Grade: D+
Starter: D.James SR 70
Analysis:
" James returns as a safety blanket for the QB's and is a very capable blocker. The backup TE C.Wallace is a better pass catcher then he is blocker but is another great insurance option for the QB's."

T- Grade: C
Starters: LT A.Love SO 82, RT A.Vinson SR 84
Analysis:
"Both starters are solid on the outside so the QB's should have lots of time to throw. Not alot of depth here so starters have to play most of the plays to succed."

G- Grade: C+
Starters: LG K.Thompson JR (RS) 85, RG M.Hicks JR 79
Analysis:
"Inside line will help get running game going. The whole line is pretty solid on the starting front and if there is a weak link it is RG M.Hicks."

C- Grade: B-
Starter: D.Dorsey SR 90
Analysis:
"Center is the position of strength on the line and offensive side. D.Dorsey it one of the top centers in the country and fellow senior D.Luke is not far behind him. If any part of the line falters D.Luke can step in and fill the void fairly well at all line positions."

K- Grade: C-
Starter: J.Campbell FR 71
Analysis:
"True Freshman J.Campbell will try to help ease the loss of last yr's top kicker J.Goolsby. Freshman always lack the experience of upper classmen but Campbell will be counted on to shake off the nerves early and play like an upper classmen otherwise FG's will get very interesting."

OFFENSE OVERALL: C

Defensive Preview:
-
DE- Grade: D+
Starters: LE C.Hall FR 71, RE B.Conley SR 74
Analysis:
"Coach Callahan has a huge amount of confidence in true freshman C.Hall to have him starter at LE to start the season. C.Hall has potential being a top recruit for the Hawks but must prove he is a starter. B.Conley will be counted on the lead this group and mentor C.Hall and another top recruit at DE Z.Holt who is redshirting his freshman year to learn from Conley and step in next year when Conley graduates."

DT- Grade: C
Starter: D.Parham SR 78
Analysis:
"D.Partham returns as leading sack man from last year so the middle should be solid. His backup SO J.Key should provide solid playing time when Partham needs a break. The depth is an issue if either get hurt for a stretch of games. Coach Callahan gambled on the DT to stay healthy as he only has 3 DT dressed for season the 3rd being JR D.Livingston. Top recruit L.Forte is redshirting this year.

OLB- Grade: D
Starters: LOLB T.Jefferson SO (RS) 74, ROLB E.McCullough SO 70
Analysis:
"Linebacking corps is weakest part of team especially OLB's where starters aren't great and backups are worse. Look for lots of mistackles and blown assignments from this group. Hopefully the Hawks will land top linebackers in recruiting."

MLB- Grade: D+
Starter: W.Todd SO (RS) 82
Analysis:
"Leading tackler W.Todd returns for sophmore campaign and he is the only bright spot in the whole linebacking corps. The depth behind him is even worse then at the OLB spots. Hawks will pray he plays whole season and when he needs breaks in game someone will emerge as a strong backup."

CB- Grade: C
Starters: J.Turner SR 75, T.Fulton SR 76
Analysis:
"Not alot to worry about here as both starting SR's played extensively last yr with J.Turner leading team in INT's last year. T.Fulton moves from Nickel to starting corner with graduation of CB J.Diggs but Hawk's belive he has enough experience and skills to hold down starting job. The 3 backups on the roster are not far behind the starters in skill but need more experience and will be on the heels of the SR's this year as they gain more with each game. Great Depth here injuries not a worry, so much talent top recruit B.Jones is Redshirting this yr."

FS- Grade: C-
Starter: M.Brown FR 75
Analysis:
"Another true Freshman M.Brown was a top in state recruit for the Hawks and they are counting on him to step in right away and secure the starting role. If he struggles his replacement will come from SS E.Motley who can play both saftey positions but is a little better at SS than FS. JR C.Hutchinson is the FS backup on depth chart but hes a special teams ace and hardly played any FS."

SS- Grade: C-
Starter: D.Ingram JR 77
Analysis:
"Ingram was the crown jewel of the Hawk's recruiting class getting the JUCO transfer away from top schools like Rutgers and Penn ST. Ingram brings great range and will help improve the weak run defense at OLB when he plays closer to the box but has recovery speed to cover deep passes. Backup is solid in E.Motley"

P- Grade: B-
Starter: D.Broussard SR 81
Analysis:
"Top returning Punter Broussard wants to improve on his 47.5 yard avg punting from last year. He has the leg to change field positon with one punt if the Hawks special teams can cover his booming kicks better. No problems here he might also take over PK duties if J.Campbell struggles."
