Road To The Show - The Easier and Longer Way Guide
Posted on July 15, 2010 at 02:15 PM.
Hey everybody, this is my guide on how to become successful in Road To The Show.

First off, you have to create your player! Enter whatever name you like, and make sure his age is 18. Set his position to 1B (the easiest position to build up your hitting career) and go L/L or L/R.

Then it is up to you to customize your player's appearances but I do not recommend unnecessary Facial Hair. Your player is only 18, he doesn't need Facial Hair. Okay, I'm just kidding.

NOW! For your accessories. Choose your mitt, batting glove, bat, and shoes color. Personally, I like all White shoes because it looks COOL.
Batting Stances! Choose your favorite batting stance. I recommend stances with high kicks like Matt Holliday, or John Baker because their high kick can be your timing on hitting the ball.

And now for your STATS! Increase Contact Left and Right, Power Left and Right, Vision, Discipline, Clutch, and Reaction. It’s all about batting right now. Don't leave any points out because you will not retrieve them after player is created.

Select team or Enter Draft, up to you. If you select or get drafted by the Yankees, start all over because you do not want to play for them.

Okay after you joined a team, you are automatically signed a 1 year contract as AA Bench. No spring training for MLB 10 Road To The Show and that's a bad move because your actions on Spring Training in 09 would get you over 300 training points. In MLB 10, you start with 300 training points (that is VERY little). Simulate one day and your Advancement Goals will pop up.

Advancement Goals are the goals given to you by your manager. Half of the goals are to train and the other half are stats you need to achieve in a certain number of series. There is a deadline however (like homework), usually it's 3 weeks, occasionally it's 2, and rarely is it 4 weeks. If you don't get half of the goals achieved, you will get two more chances and get a message saying “Failed Goals”. If you don't complete your goals again, you will be warned. If you don't complete your goals again, you will be placed on the bench. So it is important to complete these goals either fully, or at least missing one. Completing these goals is the key for you to get called up, or get a contract extension to the next level.

Now we can do this both ways. Either you simulate it, or play it. Simulating IS frustrating and you need A LOT of patience. Playing will take a long time but you will have a bigger chance of succeeding.

Simulating
Simulating is the faster but harder way to get on the big league. It will take some time to get the results you want. You will need patience and luck in this situation. Like I said, this can get frustrating so if you get frustrated with the game easily, try the Play method instead.

Some keys to simulating.

- Always SAVE! (One time I completed all the goals and two days later I got traded. I re-entered the RTTS file, and it took me back to the beginning of the season)
- After completing Advancement Goals that are fully achieved, make sure that you are confident about the next set of Advancement Goals and you have enough training points to complete it
- If you are lacking stats a bit and only have a short time to do it, go ahead and play the final game to get those final stats, but be sure to save before because if you mess up, you might not have liked the checkpoint you saved at
- Never EVER fail Goals three times in a row. You will get benched or you may get sent down
- Don’t give up! If you give up, why in the world are you trying to do this then huh?
When you start the season, don’t simulate. Play all the games your player will appear on until your Advancement Goals are due, then you start simulating. This is what happens when you simulate but get all of your goals accomplished - you get a message saying “Strong Showing – We are proud that you met your goals but unfortunately, your numbers aren’t as impressive, blah, blah , blah.” But when you play each game and do good, your manager will appreciate your numbers and your goals. The reason why your first Advancement Goals are important is because you will be put in the lineup after a strong showing by performance, and by goals.

Once you achieve being in the starting lineup within the first month, SAVE
your RTTS.

After that, hope that you can get enough points for your next set of goals and achieve it. This time you have a bigger chance of getting higher numbers while simulating, so don’t worry about it. But don’t forget about your other skills, make sure you train them. Leaving them “Decreasing” is totally unacceptable.

If you are running low on points and not getting enough, go ahead and intentionally fail your goals and refresh all your skills. But be sure to achieve the next set of goals or you will be WARNED.

If you do all of these right, your club will offer you a AAA Starter contract in the Offseason. If it’s still a Double A contract, try doing the season again – that’s why it’s important to SAVE.
After the AAA contract is over, and did the same thing you did the previous year, you should be offered a contract as an MLB Starter. If not, do it AGAIN. It is important to reach the big leagues at your third year because you will have more time on improving your skills.

As the years go on, things will start to become easier. Your player will be better and get more points so it will be easier to achieve those goals and improve your batting skills.

Playing

Playing the game is the same thing except, you actually play the game and it could be easier to get points if you are a veteran player. Also, if you never simulate a game, and you are about to make your MLB Debut, I tell ya, you will feel proud of yourself – I know I did.

So after reading this, you are probably thinking – Gosh, that takes heck of a long time to do. Well if you are a lazy bum, just download this file. It’s an RTTS Career I made my first time. Take a look at it, I made the Big Leagues in my third year.

How to put on PS3 – First you should download the file and unzip it to your thumb drive. Then when you get it, make sure the folder is in safely on your thumb drive. Plug the thumb drive into your PS3 and copy the folder you downloaded into the Saved Game Data Utility. After that, run MLB 10: The Show then press Road To The show – Continue – select “Robby Reyes First Baseman Arizona Diamondbacks.” Then change the guy if you like to.
