Game 11
Detroit Pistons
at
Washington Wizards
Recap:
The Wizards had an all-time great free throw shooting performance going 38-38 from the line as a team to push their winning streak to 4 games. Pistons Star, Rodney Stuckey, was out for this game with an injured leg so they were undermanned against the hot Washington squad.
Yi Jianlian was the player to watch in this game scoring the teams only double-double in his time off of the bench. His consistent play as the teams sixth man all year has kept the Wizards in games when the first unit needs a break.
Game 12
Denver Nuggets
at
Washington Wizards
Recap:
Washington's winning streak came to an end at 4 games on New Years Eve after falling to Denver by 16 points. Despite outrebounding Denver, the Wizards were swarmed by the Nuggets defense all game and had trouble getting any team basketball going. John Wall was held to a season-low 6 assists.
Yi Jianlian was again the Wizards Player of the Game for the Wizards again providing the scoring spark off of the bench. It wasn't enough though as the Wizards fall to 8-4 on the year heading into their match-up against the best defensive team in the league, Portland.
Game 13
Portland Trail Blazers
at
Washington Wizards
Recap:
An extremely ugly game to watch if you're a fan of offense. Neither team could get the offense going in this one until the 4th quarter. The Wizards were slowed by Portland's defense and couldn't get out and run the way they like to and were forced to play an unfamiliar half-court offense. Danilo Gallinari went down with a Labrum injury in the first quarter and Portland struggled after losing one of its main scoring options.
John Wall gets the nod as the Wizards Player of the Game over Yi Jianlian because of yet another near triple double. This is the 3rd time this season John Wall has been on the doorstep of that accomplishment but has been unable to grab it. While Yi didn't get the honors, it's getting to the point where you can just pencil his stats in before the game starts. He's had virtually identical scoring outputs in each of the games on this 3 game home stand.
Marvin Williams was benched in the 3rd quarter in this game in favor of Austin Daye. His benching has been speculated for a while now and Coach Saunders finally has had enough of his lackluster player. The Wizards need more production out of the starting SF spot if they expect to compete in the playoffs. Austin Daye will have his chance to start at SF starting in the next game at Philly.
Game 14
Washington Wizards
at
Philadelphia 76ers
Recap:
Washington ended their losing streak at 1 game and got back on track with a win over the 76ers. The 3 point shot wasn't going in for either team in this game shooting a combined 5-45 from distance. Washington couldn't hold on to the ball at all turning it over 17 teams. They are extremely lucky to pull out the win with that type of ball control. It wasn't easy as they had to score 34 points in the 4th quarter to pull out the 7 point win.
Wizards Player of the Game goes to Josh Smith in this one for his clutch performance late in the 4th to complete the Washington comeback. He landed Washington's only 3 point field goal with under a minute to go to stretch the Wizards lead to 4 points. From there, John Wall hit all 8 of his free throws as the 76ers desperately fouled hoping to get a lucky break and take it into overtime.
Game 15
Boston Celtics
at
Washington Wizards
Recap:
Boston came out hitting all of their shots in the 1st quarter, taking a lead they would hand onto until late in the 3rd quarter. Led by Big Baby and Nicolas Batum's stellar defensive play, the Celtics stopped the Wizards and held on for the win.
Rookie Marcus Jordan will win his first Player of the Game award scoring a new career high 12 points. 8 of his 12 came in the 4th when the Wizards were fighting to win the game. This also was his best shooting game going 6-9 after subbing in and playing the backup SG spot.
Team Record through 15 games: 10-5
Look Ahead:
With only 5 more games until the All Star Break, Washington will look to maintain their hold on 4th place in the East. However, 3 of the next 5 games are against playoff teams so it won't be easy for the Wizards.
The next update will feature the All-Star rosters for both teams, as well as an updated depth chart and the mid-way stats for the Wizards and the standings for both conferences.

Next 5 Games:
- February 4th @ Utah Jazz
- February 8th vs Memphis Grizzlies
- February 11th vs Charlotte Bobcats
- February 13th @ New York Knicks
- February 16th vs Minnesota Timberwolves
