NBA 2K series.....In a nutshell to me......
Posted on August 23, 2015 at 06:52 PM.
This may become lengthy so my apologies in advance. ( I also started this last October and finally got a chance to finish this today )

Wassup my people, its ya boy D Bloc, and well...I play NBA2K.

I, have been playing this game since its creation, and let me tell you, its been on hell, of a ride...I have not ever missed a 2K. So you, know where my loyalty has been. I mean the game has taken many leaps and bounds and they have been great.

Here is mine and possibly other peoples as well issue..yes you add new and exciting features, graphics, sounds etc....the thing you don't do is remove the things that were fine or made the game a hit. Sure adjustments are made to fix overall experience, thats whats supposed to be done.

Well what im getting at is the online association/Leagues within 2K (OA, OL) it was introduced I believe in 2k11 where it even had a AMAZING website to compliment it. You figure hey, they can build on this and make it better....they took it away BUT added an actual Online Association where everything was in the game, but what if you were not home to accept a trade? Or if you are the Commissioner of LG and you needed to reset the game or add a player from free agency? 2k11 you was able to all that...the stat tracking was insane, every percentage in the NBA at the time was visible. Heck, you could even watch the games via the box scores. It was pretty amazing to me and I'm sure to others as well.

We can go on and on and on about the 2K lgs online it even got interesting when you had drafts and caps and free agency. Unfortunately there were also things like the veto button in 2K12 and 2K13, YOU remember that horrible feature where the whole lg could basically sabotage your trade instead of the commish or admin being in sole control of it...yeah made you want to fight somebody for being a ***** lol or the dreaded no flex schedule and was subjected to a timer or your games would be automatically simmed.

SO FF and 2k14 drops and well, you know what happened, the mode didn't work, was literally a bare bones mode. < You ever get a Spare Rib the top of it meaty and looks on point and you bite it and its just a bone? yea that how the online league was>> I was so pissed I made a video bout it and even in videos not 2K related made mention. the good folks of OS even used my vids as a reference. This 2K ruined my jump from Last Gen to Current Gen in a bad way.

On a positive note, I finally dove into My Player < NBA Champ and Finals MVP> and enjoyed the Park which I admit didn't think it was something I was going to enjoy. Also to add i think the servers were by far the most terrible thing I had encountered...So with all that being said, I took into consideration this is the beginning of NEXT GEN, they gonna make it right for 2k15.....

NBA 2k15 drops and by now people are ready to riot, server issues, game play issues, face scan problems and of course a shiny looking online LG that was a lil better but still broken < games not registering, cant do line up changes, playbooks etc> Now I'm apart of a very stable Online League Community called the VBA http://youtube.com/nycemindright and we have been literally going above and beyond the call of duty to make what 2K sports gave us to make the game mode worth playing. we did 9 seasons this past 2K . From doing A LOT of things offline and many many ideas n implementing them and making sure rules are followed you would think the Commissioner JBH2004,admins: REGGO,SPORTSFREEEK,NET,KILLAJ, and some on n off people worked for 2K Sports...the work was crazy. making sure rosters are on point, attributes added based off of season met goals, even dudes was making sure they player kicks was right, relocation's. It was all done.

NBA 2K16 drops September 25 for pre-orders, 29th everyone else and there's been so much talk about what was done, and the Community have been a huge factor and usually those words come from Ronnie2K and LD2K respectfully, but when you have the Devs going ham on social media and giving us access to what they thinking as they prepare for this game. it is an eye opener...

NBA 2K has been the IT in basketball gaming, it may change, the old dog is
lurking around the block again.stay on your guard and keep being innovative.

Thanks for Reading....Bloc out ***END TRANSMISSION***

Great Blog!! the SpareRib quote cracked me up! i'm with you dude/the Leagues are dismal at the moment---every yr 2k howls about "we will be able to do this & that"/game ships and then we realize that those modes/additions do not work. The 2k servers have been 'cursed out' more times in my household than my teenage son...just wanted to say "i feel you Dog"...IceBerg

Couldn't agree with you more! Why remove features from the game that were a hit? It's a question I've been asking myself for some time now. Still waiting to see fans in the crowd walking the staircases and easing to their designated seats! NBA2K has without a doubt taken a few steps however, I do believe there is a valid reason for them sacrificing a few things due to the release of next gen consoles.

In my opinion, 2K14 was essentially the foundation while 2K15 showed promise, leaving us to think NBA2K16 will be the best simulation basketball game we've all been anticipating. In addition, there was a tweet @IpodKingCarter posted a while back stating that the developers have been working on it for about two years now. He's a pretty credible source so let's just hope that is true.

Server functionality has always been an issue for the game but it has gotten better though. It seems as though the devs have discovered the reason for the disruptive lag on in both the Park and Jordan Rec Center, which is caused from the countless stragglers roaming while games are in progress. The new proposed instant matchmaking should will hopefully fix that problem.

But listen, I hear you 100% on the MyLeague functionality. It has the potential to be one of the strongest and most competitive modes in the game if they get it right this time. Hopefully we can eliminate all the time we spend keeping track of stats, trades, etc. on external sites with the amount of customization in 2K16. They definitely have to enhance the community website as well. It hasn't been the same since 2K12; just look http://www.nba2k.com/login still has the same gold tribal background smh. Idk, maybe an upgraded mobile app can help as well, giving players the option to make adjustments and interact with the league or multiple game modes when they're not home.

One thing for sure though homie, 2K is gonna continue to innovate. They do a good job of adding to the realism and improving the features based on our feedback. They definitely cannot afford to mess up anymore. It's like you said, "The old dog is lurking around the block again." I'm assuming you're referring to NBA Live 16 and they're dropping a solid product.

Nice post! By the way, how does the kid get into one of those leagues?

appreciate the comments fellas, means alot.

I still support 2KSports, they have been innovative since jump and I appreciate the heck outta them for that. Just don't get lax on us cause you made it. You bring cool things to the table to draw in the ****** gamer, but don't do this and hurt the die hard ones.

again I cant wait, few weeks away....

oh and as for getting into the LG we play on xbox one and usually have a waiting list, but right now the commish is on his madden thing so that will be eplored later, ill keep you in mind when we cross that bridge.
