The Future of Madden (A New Hope?)
Posted on September 28, 2022 at 01:02 PM.
The current hope I have is that this year's whole debacle combined with other companies being able to release NFL licensed games, the profit expectations of the NFL is still met while allowing EA to move to a two year development cycle (at least - I wouldn't mind three years).

This is exactly why I talk about how the MUT/YARD/FOTF should be its own game and code while the sim game of Madden that we all had in the first place as its own thing, once again is only that - its own thing. I mean, come on, EA - "if it's in the game, it's in the game." Nothing about the fictional, made up, arcade nonsense of the MUT/YARD and arguably any other modes are in the actual NFL fooball game. Momentum meter, free form passing, hit stick, heat seeker, x factor nonsense - take that mess to arcade modes where it belongs. Make that BS its own game every year, if you have to, but don't do that with Madden sim. Madden is simply football - play now, seasons, franchises - stats based, stats recorded and ratings for players being what only matters.
Yes, please, still give us ability to create some players here and there and to edit rosters/ratings. If you have to sell us something for Madden sim every year, still, then I propose the following:

Roster updates
Draft Classes - incorporate different draft guru ratings per "pack"
Uniforms - classic sets, new sets, nike/addidas/etc. futures alternates
Shoes/Pads/Gear packs

Better yet, sell me a subscription to a "teambuilder" style website every year where you could incorporate all of this stuff. It seems like a common sense move. Charge me $70 a year for that while leaving the core game code and game play absolutely alone for years at a time. Put a complete create a team in there like teambuilder had, too. Man, that would be awesome. We know it would work. We all experienced it. That was in freaking 2013 !!!

This should have been a major business decision already because the profits they'd see would rocket. This is beyond an oversight.
