No more excuses - It's 2022 - We have the tech.

Games need to be separate and their own entities entirely. It's beyond obvious that the cramming of game modes and game codes into one disc/download just isn't working out. We've seen it with Madden, NBA2K, NHL and also with other high profile games/FPS stalwarts.

Print on demand has been an option for at least 15 years, now, so there's no need per overhead (store/distro center shelves) for rolling out a disc version on any game at all. Tell consumers that they can either order, pay and have shipped a disc or just have to download it day of release - no other options. That right there saves a ton of funding/budget and will increase the profit margins. Fact.

Per each game mode becoming its own game entirely, I don't want to hear excuses and BS about manpower allocation. Those decisions come from the top, and it's obvious that manpower is already specifically allocated to only develop and support one game mode or the other (and that they obviously don't work so well together when every "fix" creates a new "problem" - evidence of poor management and/or poor QA). Still, such a dead simple thing as the previous paragraph mentioned saves a lot of money that could be shifted to paying for more/better manpower, so the failure of putting that common sense move into play is a worse look for whomever at the tip top making decisions.

Long story short, these possibilities are exactly why an independent company that does do these things (and gives consumers open-ended customization) will one day impact the whole market - they could maybe even take over said market. Again, it's beyond obvious and rather common sense, so it's going to happen. It's going to be hilarious if the conglomerate companies don't do it first and get beat out. Consumers do majority support quality over quantity.
