Biding my time with football purchase

After playing the NCAA 11 demo, I came away with a 'meh' feeling. Yes, the game does feel improved from 09 (the last version I played) but really what NCAA 11 feels like is Madden 10 with a few additions.

Not that that's a bad thing as Madden 10 was a pretty good game, but it's just not fresh enough for me. Perhaps I'm just burned out on EA's version of football, but I don't find myself getting as hyped up to buy this year's games as in previous years.

Part of that is I know going in that we're not getting a complete game. I know that there's going to be bugs and issues and that patches will be released. I just don't want to buy an incomplete game anymore. It's not fair to the consumer and I've been burned too many times in the past to go rush out Day 1 and pick up a game that with its issues, will likely frustrate me.

So, I'm going to wait until both patches drop before I think about making a purchase of NCAA 11. As for Madden, I'll probably hold off on that and just stick with Madden 10, since I'm not seeing a drastic difference.

I've downloaded the Backbreaker demo (PS3) and will check that out and have also been spending a lot of time with APF 2K8, which for my money, is still the most complete game of football on the market.

I wasn't blown away by the NCAA demo either but I still liked it. We could probably use a fresh game but that's not happening. I'll pick it up day one and I'm going to love the recruiting difficulty setting. I'm going to use UM for the first time now.

I found the demo to be miles ahead of last year. Even ahead of Madden 10 because of the new lighting and locomotion engine.

This game has upped the ante in regards to gameplay and presentation. I am not sure what "fresh" is. Maybe because the core of the game (controls) are pretty much the same.

Overall, NCAA 11, IMO, is going to be one of the best in the series. Hard to tell how much more will be in the retail version (tons of jersey options) and extras...

I have always been a fan of the NCAA series and this year's game has me pumped....
