Live 10 about to go bye-bye
Posted on February 16, 2010 at 01:10 PM.
Seriously, I'm this close to trading this game into GameStop. I just sat through an unbelieveable 20-minute stretch that infuriated me so much that I'm glad I have a punching bag down in my basement.

I'm playing a Dynasty game, Milwaukee (me) @ Philly. First half was back-and-forth, both teams scoring from outside and down low. I had a 52-49 lead and both teams were around 45-48% from the floor for the half.

Then, the 2nd half starts and well, some of the things I saw really, really bothered me. Let's start with Elton Brand Samuel Dalembert each euro-stepping numerous times to the basket for layups. Continue on and every time the CPU drives the paint, a foul is called.

Meanwhile, a force field goes up over my rim. I can't hit a 3-point shot (mind you, the Bucks have good 3-pt. shooters in Redd, Jennings etc.), can't hit a mid-range shot and miss just about everything in the low post.

I shoot 25% in the 3rd quarter. I'm upset but hey, bad quarters happen.

Now, the 4th quarter starts and I MISS 14 STRAIGHT SHOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry, but this is the kind of crap that really annoys me. How do you go from shooting near 50% to making NOTHING, while the CPU has its post players euro-stepping and scoring at will????????????????????????????

I've tried awfully hard to look past the flaws of this game but today may have been the tipping point. I've never been so frustrated in all my life with a game. I really don't mind losing but when it feels like you are being given no chance by the AI to have any measure of success, while at the same time the CPU is pulling off unrealistic moves, well, it definitely raises the blood pressure.

OK, I need to go out for a run and burn this stress off. I think I'm putting Live 10 on the shelf for a while as I contemplate what my next move will be.

I know I may sound stupid saying this, but keep in mind I am a hockey and football first guy. What the hell is a euro step? lol

I have been there with 2k8 before it seemed that no matter what I would shoot 30% in the 3rd and fall behind. In CH2k7 I started off the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney down 16-0! I shot 28% in the first half and watched my season end

Wow... I just wrote about going to buy Live again and then i see this. On my way to gamestop to make an in store decision... hopefully it won't be a waste of gas.

10-yard, don't base your decision off my post. I'm just trying to vent my frustrations, that's all.

Oh, and the game DID SAVE MY PROGRESS after my dramatic win over Utah, so that decreased my stress level a bit.

Lmao! I know what you mean, here, but sometimes, when it happens to me, I just wonder if my focus starts to wane. I do notice, even with 2K9, how I would "fall asleep at the wheel" then next thing you know, the CPU is up on me by 12 OR WORSE! I think I just get away from what gets me leads, such as utilizing my post game, then going back to it can be tough when trying to play catch up. Hard to play a steady flow of low post when I need to be chucking up 3s to get back in the game.
I DO think, however, there may be some rubberbanding AI in Live 10, just like there was in 2K9. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in 2K10 because I don't think the tech is there yet where AI can truly play life like and win WITHOUT causing your own players to suffer droughts and foul calls like Tim Donaghy was reffing. Lol.

You are not alone, TreyIM2 has a good point but it's just not the case. This is an odd flaw in how this game handles runs. While realistic since the NBA is a game of runs and stopping runs, but it's just horribly implemented. I can actually top your experience with the BS i had happen to me. I was having one of the most enjoyable games of Live ever. The first half was a battle, back and forth with the cpu hitting a shot at the buzzer to go up by one at half. Well then it happened, my team went on a, you ready for this, 18 consecutive missed shots. I shot something like 11% for the 3rd quarter. I've raised this question before when the game first came out and posted in the forums that something is wrong with the game, and when i said it just feels to scripted i was blasted for saying that word. So i ask you, does it feel pretty scripted in this regard. This game as i've said before is won and lost in the 3rd, it's to predictable in that regard. My opinion of live is it's the best and worst NBA game i've ever played. The sad part is the alternative is really no better, trust me i owned it and traded it in and Live may be out the door as well.
