Anyone abandoning Live 10 for 2K10 after recent news?
Posted on February 2, 2010 at 11:38 PM.
With the announcement that Mike Wang leaving EA and heading back to 2K (and the rumored cancellation of the NCAA Basketball series), is anyone going to cut bait with NBA Live 10 and move over to 2K10?

I am seriously considering it. I enjoy Live 10 a lot, but this whole experience leaves me jaded and makes me feel like EA doesn't take our feedback seriously. All they are looking at is sales figures and not the big picture.

Gameplay is a top priority; you build that foundation, sales will come. Live struggled b/c of poor gameplay, nothing more, nothing less. Steps were being taken to fix the problem and advance the basketball genre but in the end, that was nullified by low sales numbers.

Look at FIFA and NHL. Both were clearly No. 2 in their respective sports but EA chose to stay the course, make the gameplay solid (and fun) and what do you know? Both are excelling.

2K10 may have clunky controls (Isomotion really needs to looked at, Mr. Wang) but it does do a lot of things right. Looking at the situation long-term, I'm more inclined to run with the company that strives to have superior gameplay over constantly changing its vision.

It's a shame, Live 10 has a lot going for it, but the future is now muddled in questions about the direction of the series. I'm not sure I want to stick around and see what lies ahead.

As far as Live 10 goes, I think I'm in till the end. Can't say the same about any iteration going forward. I don't think EA really cares about the true fans of the series. True fans want gameplay, not gimmicks. 'New direction' to me sounds suspiciously like 'new gimmick.' Especially since the direction they were taking was leading back to respectability for the series.

Honestly, I've just given up on hoop games altogether.

Last one I bought was College Hoops 2K8, and I still feel like it's the best basketball game on the current gen of consoles.

Really hated the direction 2K has taken since 2K9 (more animations, less player control) and I don't know if Wang can get them out of that rut in such a short period of time to work with this year's game.
