I am going to the 2014 BCS National Championship!

Yep, you read that right. I, along with my wife, will be heading out to Pasadena, Calif., to attend the 2014 BCS National Championship between my Florida State Seminoles and AuburnAlumni's overrated (j/k, Drew!) Auburn Tigers.

I was afforded the opportunity to buy 2 tickets thanks to my current job (I work in college athletics), and after spending all day Sunday and Monday going back-and-forth over whether to buy the tickets or not (factoring in airfare, hotel, food, etc.), I eventually decided to buck up and make the purchase. As my wife said, I'd kick myself on Jan. 6 if I were sitting at home on my couch watching the game, knowing that I could've been there in person. The fact that the game is being played at the iconic Rose Bowl is just icing on the cake.

So, while I'm not comfortable spending that much money for what will be a fast 3-day trip, the experience is going to be well worth it, win or lose. I've talked with several people that have been to a game of this magnitude and no one regretted their decision to go, even those that saw their favorite team lose.

This will be the first postseason event for a major sport that I've ever attended, and I'm really looking forward to it. The last time I saw FSU play was back in 2007 when the Seminoles traveled to Boulder, Colo. to take on CU. I think it's safe to say the 2013 Seminoles are a tad better than that 2007 squad.

I plan on taking a lot of photos while I am at the game (and probably the day before the game as well), and will definitely write a follow-up blog, win or lose, to let you all know how my experience was.

For now, the wait is on and I'll this by saying ... Go 'Noles!

WAY cool, DJ!

This is going to be an experience that you'll NEVER forget, so take as many "mental pix" as possible...in my experience, those tell more of the story than the "actuals" as the years pass...

I'm a BIG 'Noles fan as well, so that adds a LOT to this year's game for me too...

Thanks, King! Yeah, my wife will be the one taking the actual photos (it's one of her hobbies). I'm excited to go as a FAN and not in a work capacity.

I didn't know you were an FSU fan. Now, I like you even more!

Well, I can't imagine a more exciting game (complete with "desired end result")to witness in person...

Yeah, it was incredible to experience that game in person. I've been meaning to write a blog about my time there, but I've been a bit under the weather (and trying to catch up at work), so hopefully in the next few days I can sit down and get that done.
