NBA 2K14: Narrowing down my team choices for Association
Posted on October 12, 2013 at 12:55 AM.
In an effort to keep things fresh with NBA 2K, I am avoiding using the legend/classic trams/rosters, and will just use the current-day, shipped roster for 2K14.

I am a Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder fan (yes, I know they reside in the same division but I have good reason to like both teams), but want to avoid using them this year. Perusing the rosters, I've come up with the following teams I would like to run with:

Detroit
Some interesting pieces here. I really like Monroe and Drummond down low. J-Smoove is always solid in 2K. Jennings is streaky, but a nice upgrade at the point. Bench is a little suspect. I like the court and uniforms.

Cleveland
Kyrie Irving is a stud. Dion Waiters and Anthony Bennett are nice complementary pieces and Bynum is an X factor. Varajeo is a great hustle guy who can play D and rebound. Not a huge fan of the court and main unis, but some of the alternates are nice.

LA Lakers
A team that needs to be blown up. Can't get rid of Kobe but could likely still deal Gasol for something. Would be fun trying to restore a classic franchise. Like the court and unis, plus Magic Johnson is my all-time favorite player.

New Orleans
A young team with potential. Not a big fan of the court and uniforms.

Boston
People are down on this team because KG and Pierce are gone, but I actually believe they will be better than most think and will compete for a playoff berth. Like the Lakers, could be fun rebuilding a storied franchise. I like Rondo, Bradley and Green.

Not sure how I will ultimately decide. If anyone here at OS has any input, I gladly welcome it.

i say pick Boston, I am interested in what you would do with the franchise plus it my favorite team so I am down to follow you on this path cause I believe the exact same thing you said the team is not that bad as many people and experts are making it and a definite playoff team; bottom seed but playoff nonetheless

You should check out Portland! They have pretty good uniforms and their court design is pretty cool. The starting 5 can compete in the West, (Aldridge, Lillard, Batum, Mathews, Lopez) but our bench is dreadful. As much as I hate to say it because I love LaMarcus, but maybe try and get a sneaky championship soon, but he's about at the top of his game after a year or two you can trade him away for some draft picks or a young up and comer. Lillard will only get better and the core is young enough that it will give you a couple more years to try and get better.

Of the ones you posted though I would lean Detroit. With how bad everything seems to be you would think a city would rally around a team that might be competing for a title right?
