Slow start for Mets in Show 09 (PS2) franchise
Posted on March 11, 2009 at 05:01 PM.
MLB 09: The Show is kicking my butt! I'm 2-6 in my Mets franchise right now.

A couple of things have plagued me:
Shaky starting pitching (Santana is 0-2 and only Maine and Redding have a W) and untimely hitting. It seems that I can string a hit or two together, but when I need someone to step up and drive in a run, it doesn't happen.

My power bats have been quiet in the HR dept. as only Beltran and Delgado have an HR; Reyes actually leads the team with 2.

Question for those using the Mets, what does your lineup look like?

I've got:
Reyes
Beltran
Wright
Delgado
Church/Tatis
Murphy
Schneider
Castillo
Pitcher

Thinking I might move Beltran back to 5th and Castillo back to 2nd but Beltran has been hitting real well in the No. 2 spot; it's the 5-8 spots that are really slumping for me right now.

Personally, I don't use the Mets but I think that hitting Beltran is a mistake. Assuming that Reyes gets on, you want the number 2 guy to be able to move him over, via bunt, hit and run or whatever so that your RBI guys (Wright, Delgado and Beltran) can bring him home. IMHO.

I like Beltran at 5th in the lineup it works better I think.

i have the order pretty much the way it is in real life & the way the game has it setup. in spring training, i'm 8-6 w the Mets, but everyones been hitting pretty good. Delgado & Beltran have 5 hr's each, about 15 RBI's each, high .300 BA's. my only complaint is w Castillo..in a BAD slump! is there gonna be an update soon w rosters? i want Oliver Perez back in my rotation!

Well i have the mets as well,my lineup was:

Reyes
Tatis/Church
Wright
Beltran
Delgado
Murphy
Schneider
Castillo

But i Traded Delgado for Chris Davis of the Texas Rangers being that Delgado's contract expires and his age,so now i have Chris Davis in that spot, and Daniel Murphy is real inconsistent so i signed Moises Alou and i Platoon him in the number 2 hole or number 5 hole.

Oh yea another thing,Johan Santana really didn't start pitching well for me until about his 4th start so no worries,he will come on soon. And don't even think of bringing Jon Niese to the MLB because he will not last more then 4 innings,so i went and signed Ben Sheets as a Solid Starter.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I went ahead and moved Beltran back to the No. 5 spot. Lost 4-2 to the Padres in 11 innings. Had one of those games where I hit a lot of hard balls right at defenders.

2-7 but am not panicking yet. Castillo is driving me nuts, though. He's only got 1 hit so far.

Castillo is actually doing pretty well in my season through 30 or so games,i have him hitting 321. and he's been pretty consistent, but i would say the best place to put Beltran would be the number 4 hole because he's a switch hitter with power from both sides,so if they were to call in a reliever they would have no choice but to pitch to him knowing Delgado is right behind him,it's sord of like when Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz was back to back. Oh and in my season Beltran is hitting 361. in the number 4 spot with 8 homers, and i have it on Legend difficulty.

10-6 in spring training but Castillo is still killing it for me. such a slump! & Schneiders THE worst. i keep him in for 1 at bat to see how he does(which is usually a grond out double play) & then i put Castro in. & i cant believe what Shake.n.Bake said about Santana. same thing with my season. he wasnt doing so good until his last game, which i believe was his 3rd. went a full game w 7 K's & only gave up 2 runs. crazy how guys stamina starts to build as the season goes on. cant wait for opening day @ CitiField!!

Started the season so far 5-0, my last game vs. marlins was crazy i had a 6-1 lead going into the middle innings. then I gave up 2 homers (solo shot & 3 run shot) with pelfrey. gave marlins the lead pitching with sean green in relief. was down 6-9. i managed to tie it up in the top of the 8th off of taylor tankersley with the help of a walk and HBP. then pinched hit marlon anderson for the go-ahead homerun in the top of the 9th. closed out the game with K-Rod for the 10-9 win. i play it on hall of fame haven't gotten used to legend yet.

I use a line up like Vudoo in all games, I can't speak to '09 cause I haven't played it but that line is the way to go. I would also like to ask since I don't have a 3 is the PS2 version good enough to say go out and get it?
