NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION: Entry #2 Imagine This
Posted on April 14, 2015 at 02:05 AM.
The NBA is about to lose some of its' Living Legends in Kobe, KG, Duncan, Pierce, Nash and others. Before we witness another year of 2K cheesers putting the likes of Kobe in any other jersey other than a Laker jersey, the fans deserve a game that correctly ties it all together. An NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION would allow users access to past greats in this advanced technological era like never before. I have never understood how fans and programmers could feel comfortable seeing Payton, MJ, Nique, Duncan, & Chamberlain all on the same team, in a Hawks uniform, with a Celtic logo on the screen keeping score. Blasphemous! To truly put a great Team together should require more than buying packs of cards in hopes of landing a good player while losing real money the entire time. It really should require some thought. In order to run realistic Crew and Team Modes, 2k should at least require that the players chosen in those modes, be former players of those NBA Teams. The League has had more than enough Star players for mode lovers to build dominant teams with those players. To use that Hawks scenario I mentioned previously, a TRUE Hawks fan could use Nique, Bob Petitt, Lou Hudson, Joe Johnson, Mutombo, Moses Malone, Abdur-Rahim, Webb, Rivers, Horford, Jamal Crawford, Steve Smith, Josh Smith, Jason Terry, Maravich, Mookie Blaylock, and a whole host of players that dominated the game in a Hawks uniform with out destroying the very fabric of team rivalries. Of those players I just mentioned, many of them would also be eligible for other teams. Jamal Crawford for example has played for Chicago (back when everyone wore headbands), New York, Golden State, Portland, Atlanta, & now the L.A. Clippers.

Well how would the casual fan know which teams players played for without researching? In my opinion, research would be a great way to appreciate the past, but to eliminate the process, I'm going to help programmers. Player profiles and or cards usually require a player's year to year stats and bio to be coded into the game. NBA 2K's LEGACY EDITION would only require a player's CAREER averages for each team played for, along with a quick description of the players game and possible NBA journey. Allow me to use Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as an example:

NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION is the answer to 2K's "what next" and the NBA's "who is next" by keeping the 2K Franchise and the NBA's past relevant as we all embark upon this new era of Superstars. If 2K wants to know where they are going, they have to stay in touch with where they've been.
