NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION: Franchise Greats

As an NBA SUPER FAN, I was excited for the classic team additions, Dream Team, Redeem Team, each of the All Time teams as well as the WNBA team additions to NBA 2K. I posted these add-ons years before their fruition on Facebook and here on Operation Sports. I was even more excited when I got response from 2K about looking into said ideas. While the teams incorporated, quench my thirst to play with the greats on the hardwood, 2K's consistent favor of marketing dollars over true historical elements ... Read More

So 2K hosted a tournament that gave us the 10 best guys to create players for My Player modes. First I want to congratulate and thank Scott O'Gallagher for his complete professionalism during this awful televised event. To keep a straight face while tatted up, Puff the Magic Dragon characters ran up and down the court, was a hard sell. The only real NBA characters displayed in this NBA tournament game were Kobe and Paul George, how ridiculous is that? Real NBA players watched make believe players ... Read More

The race to a 99 rated my player begins every year right around the pre-order release date time for NBA 2K My Player fans. The fans with the most money to BLOW on imaginary avatars of them selves and virtual clothing gear/accessories, as if $60 isn't enough patronage, usually DESTROY all comers with lesser pockets so to speak. So really your My Player experience becomes a game of BIG BANK TAKE LIL BANK. Hey, mo' Power to the fans with bread to spare, and STOP the insanity for those that don't. ... Read More

I took some time today to check out NBA Live's gameplay for their upcoming release and surprisingly, I was taken back to 2007. This was the year I traded in my Playstation for an XBOX 360, bought NBA 2K8 and NEVER looked back until today. I wanted to see what the buzz was about but quickly it was VERY apparent that NBA Live is far too inferior in almost every way.
Allow me to start and end with graphics. The faces of the players in NBA Live are very good, but everything from ... Read More

We are a few months away from the release of NBA 2K16 and here is what we know so far.
1. Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, & James Harden are on the cover.(Cool)
2. Spike Lee is to somehow enhance MyPlayer story lines.(Possibly cool for MyPlayers)
3. There is a Special Edition Micheal Jordan cover waiting on us to pre-order.(MJ's Cut of the pie)
4. 3 music producers were chosen for the sound track.(Has to be better than what Pharrel did, right?) ... Read More

The last 2K volume to have SPECIFIED RUNNER/FLOATER signature shots was NBA 2K13. The attention to detail that moves like this lends to gameplay is immeasurable. Although 2K doesn't exactly FOCUS on accurate depictions of EVERY players shot, it is the little things that make gaming closer to reality.
An example of this is Mike Conley's floater. Everybody that LOVES the game knows that Conley although he is a lefty, shoots floaters with his right hand exclusively. Of course this has ... Read More

It is long over due for the #1 NBA simulation basketball game to have come up with some way to make ALL camera View angles more player friendly. I have always been a fan of the side, broadcast, & the ole press views because the spin of the 2K view makes me feel like I am in that Russell Westbrook commercial as his shirt goes from bad to worst. My favorite views have had 2 blind spots for as long as I can remember and have had issues with being able to duplicate moves as efficient as other views. ... Read More

I shared my thoughts on post play control in part 1. I have since revised some controls that I wish to share. Let me know your thoughts.
It appears that in some respects to player control 2K is gong back to the days when isomotion required a wiggling of the control stick to create moves you could never duplicate. 2K should take a page from Madden on controls. Madden has enhanced controls without stripping away basic, yet vital moves. Meaning we have known how to do these moves since ... Read More

In this section of my ultimate wish for the 2K franchise, I will attempt to paint a mental picture of some of the game set up for an NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION. I want to discuss the Team Select Screen, Player Lineup Screen, and Team Rosters/Player Ratings.
Team Select Screen
The Team Select Screen should be done exactly like Madden did a few years ago when they gave fans the option of choosing current teams as well as retro teams. Once teams are chosen, the options ... Read More

Hopefully by now you fully understand what I'm babbling about and realize that I have obviously put a lot of thought into this. I have created All Time rosters on NBA games since NBA Live. I finally created the complete version in NBA 2K13 along with the help of cyberfacing fans that shared my enthusiasm. I was able to put cyberfaced heavy-set, double-forearm band wearing, Charles Barkley on the Sixers bench behind center Moses Malone at power forward with Wilt at center, and the slimmed down Barkley ... The NBA is about to lose some of its' Living Legends in Kobe, KG, Duncan, Pierce, Nash and others. Before we witness another year of 2K cheesers putting the likes of Kobe in any other jersey other than a Laker jersey, the fans deserve a game that correctly ties it all together. An NBA 2K LEGACY EDITION would allow users access to past greats in this advanced technological era like never before. I have never understood how fans and programmers could feel comfortable seeing Payton, MJ, Nique, Duncan, ... Read More
NBA 2k's reign has stood the test of time long enough to eliminate all NBA simulated gaming competition. Although there have been bumps in the road recently with repeated online glitches and over enhancements and marketing for My Player, League, Career, & Crew Modes, 2K's dominant graphics and gameplay have continued to raise the bar. No other sports game presents the clarity of visual arts and the "opportunity" for player specific signature movements and/or moments. Now it is time for a game changer. ... Read More

13. Bring back the East & West All Star teams. Charging fans for a part of the season is way over the top.
14. Fix the catch and shoot feature when a player is on the move. Players are matrixed into ridiculous fadeaways or floating jumpers. These can be true movements if a)the matrix affect is eliminated and b)the shot is matched with the appropriate momentum of the player pre-shot.
15. Apply speed BURST & SPEED to RT.

6. New Legends Teams. No fake stand in, same face players. Just leave the roster unfilled and make user/cpu rotations matter or do away with it. Fake names and faces cheapen the experience.
7. Bring back the Dream Team/Redeem Team
8. Include the either the WNBA finals Teams or the WNBA East & West All Stars.
9. Allow better AI defender reaction when teams break the press/trap/zone coverages. As is, the offense gets an uncontested layup/dunk/alleyoop. ... Read More
