If Madden says no more, what name does EA choose?!

Now that John Madden is retired, if he says he wants his name removed from the Madden series, what name do you think EA would switch to in the coming years!??

I wonder how long they have the Madden name locked up for? They would probally go generic like NFL 2011.

NFL '11 and it would be cheaper. No reason for Madden to pull his name and the money he gets from the game. EA would be more likely to drop Madden than the other way around.

As long as they have the monopoly, it would probably just be "NFL __," as others have said.

But that's if he wants his name off of it. So many people know Madden mostly from the video game, so even if he doesn't lift a finger to help with future games, EA will probably want to keep the name intact. It will be his legacy, so I don't see them changing it one way or another.

Why exactly would the guy turn down what amounts to easy money? No matter what the contract is?

i think at this point the name is so locked in people's brains that EA risks losing a certain amount of customers by dropping the madden name due the confusion.

back in 2005, im pretty sure madden signed a deal with EA to make Madden the only football game until 2015...sure if it'll still be call Madden 2011,2012, etc. but i think he'll still be in on it

I'm sure they'll come up with a fancy contract so they can use his name until the end of time, even if he's not involved in the game in any way.

EA has already said the name of the game will not be changing despite Madden retiring from announcing.

I doubt Madden will go away; however if it did NFL Football 11 would probably be a good bet. I'm so disappointed that Tiburon still hasn't put all of the stadiums into NCAA 10 that I'm not really sure I care what they call either franchise.
