Lambert Leads the Iron D and Coach Creatine to 2nd Straight Championship

Final Score: 17-7 PIT

Q 1 2 3 4
PIT 0 3 7 7
MIN 7 0 0 0
The Armchair QB's season 2 championship was a tight game up until late in the 4th quarter. Both teams played nearly picture perfect defense for its entirety. The holes were small, the hits were huge, and the pressure was fast. As the game wore on the defenses got more and more agressive. It was very intense.

Minnesota's lone score would come on their first drive of the game which was capped off by a beautiful Raymond Berry WR screen for 44 yards. During that drive O'Donnell made a phenomenal 3rd down conversion before the score on their opening set of downs. After that the Iron got a feel for what Minnesota wanted to do and tightened the screws immensely.

Pittsburgh's DB's played out of their mind, tallying 3 interceptions on the day along with 4 team sacks, 3 by the Manimal Randy White, including the sack to seal the game. Dick Anderson scooped up a loose ball tipped up by Lambert on a slent route against cover 3 that was just beautiful.

Neil O'Donnell made some great plays in this game, but despite that he was still to blame for the loss. 10 points were scored off turnovers (all INT's) and that ended up being the difference in the game. He went 10 for 20 for 160 yards 1 TD 3 INT's 4 sacks. Chuck Foreman had his work cut out for him going against 2 golds and a silver in that PIT front 7. He ran 13 times for 50 yards. Raymond Berry had the best day catching the ball, grabbing 4 for 95 yards including the 44 yard WR-screen for the TD.

The Iron's offense needed help on this day as Minnesota's defense was suffocatingly tight. Chris Warren finished with 113 yards on 14 carries including a TD. What that stat doesn't show is the first 3 quarters of the game he had 8 carries for 40 yards and the final 6 carries he grabbed about 75 yards to seal it. That's a perfect example of workhorse coming to use. In a tight game he was able to seal it for me when I needed him the most.

Jim Hart had a serviceable game, avoiding big mistakes at all costs. He went 10 for 14 for 100 yards 1 TD 0 INT's and 3 SACKs. His lone TD pass was a clutch throw on a stutter-and-go route in the 4th quarter when the game was 10-7 PIT. It was the score that put the Iron in the driver's seat. All 3 sacks against Hart came in a single posession. MIN's blitzes shredded the drive, it was pretty amazing to see... Jim Marshall and Otis Wilson were two of the culprits. MIN had 0 passes defended, evidence that Hart made careful throws and didn't take chances.

This game completes and undefeated 19-0 season! I believe chronologically I had a pretty long win streak spanning 3 seasons that was just recently ended. I'm guessing it was in the upper 20's.. I'll have to check it out.

GG Danny! It was a very enjoyable game and enjoyable season.

BTW for deciding who was home I just said the North could be home in season 2 and we can alternate, so season 3 championship game will give home field advantage to the team representing the South.
