Iron Steamroll Past Warthogs

When it rains it pours. The Iron barely squeaked out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the half on a QB sneak with 3 seconds left. This momentum snowballed to 2 pick-sixes which created an insurmountable deficit in the third quarter. The Warthogs didn't have much of an opportunity to move the ball after their first couple of drives, of which the first ended in an interception in the redzone. The momentum was in full swing this game.

On the offensive side of the ball Iron's QB Jim Hart had a career day going 9 for 9 for 117 yards, 2 TD's and was sacked once. Hart even scrambled for 35 yards, a season high. Chris Warren played through an elbow sprain and racked up 137 on 13 carries and a TD. Luckily the offensive line played out of their minds because Warren only had 1 broken tackle due to his arm injury. Dwight Clark caught 2 TD's.

For the Warthogs Joe Montana was 12 for 18 for 124 yards, 1 TD, and 3 costly interceptions. He was sacked 3 times by Randy White, who has recorded a sack in 3 consecutive games. Roger Craig chewed up 55 yards on 12 carries. John Taylor played well catching all 5 balls thrown to him for 70 yards.

On the defensive side both Supernaw and Lewis of the Iron had pick-sixes. Torrin Curry had 9 tackles and a red zone interception. Jack Lambert had 10 tackles, including 1 for a loss. Lambert Has 19 of his 51 tackles on the season recorded in the past 2 games. That's a shade under 40%! For the Warthogs Willie Wood led with 6 tackles and Leonard Marshall recorded half a sack with 3 big hit tackles which were awesome to see.

The Iron hope to keep this trend of solid play up. One thing is becoming very evident, giving the Iron turnovers is suicide. Their series with the Warthogs moves to 2-0.
