Iron Hang on Against Great Whites

The second meeting between these two OS South division rivals was within 7 points up until late in the 4th quarter. Both teams made sharp throws and played smart football. Proof of this is the lone two passes defended in the whole game and zero turnovers overall. The difference in the game was a 4th and inches in the Great White's gray area (30-40 yard line) which was an ISO to Megget that was stuffed by the Iron. The Great Whites did score late in the 4th to put it within 7, but their onside kick attempt failed. The Great Whites heavily led in time of possession.

On the offensive side of things the Iron were held to a measly 52 yards passing. Hart was 6 for 7 for 52 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT's, and again no sacks. Chris Warren had a big day, dishing out big hits all game and racking up 167 yards on 16 carries along with 2 touchdowns. He also accounted for the only touchdown reception. He was responsible for every point the Iron scored. Warren suffered a sprained elbow which will nag him for the next 3 weeks. He was able to play through the pain as this injury was sustained in the first half. If Warren misses any time, the Iron will find difficulty continuing to win.

For the Great Whites on offense, Steve Young put together an extremely efficient game. he went 18 for 22 for 255 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, and was sacked 4 times. His toughness was very obvious as he continued to play well after being hit very hard multiple times. Meggett was responsible for 64 all purpose yards and a score on offense. He ran better in the first half than the second. Yancey Thigpen, the slot reciever, had the best day catching the ball snagging 5 for 99 yards and a TD.

On the defensive side for the Iron Jack Lambert had his best game of the season racking up 9 tackles, 2 for a loss, 1 sack, and obtained the only 2 passes defensed in the game. Bethea and White both contributed with a sack also. For the Great Whites John Anderson led in tackles with 7, including 2 for a loss. The Grea Whites couldn't get to Hart through sacks or interceptions, but they only had 7 chances which is part of the Iron's gameplan. Both teams struggled to create impact plays on defense, but still tackled solidly for the most part.

The Iron are on a very strong string of wins here, and Warren's injury might derail this. All they can hope for at this point is to be healthy for the playoffs in every position and not lose anyone else before the postseason if they make it. Pressure will be moved squarely to Jim Hart's shoulders if Warren can't make contribute the next 3 games.

GG C-Bus! Very close game throughout and the 4th and inches play was tough.
