How's it going out there football fans? Its Zipper Carlisle here with your update on our 1st heat of WARRIORZ ABROAD. With this heat being comprised of QB's and FS's our freshmen signal callers found themselves being introduced to college life while simultaneously trying to climb a depth chart that found most beginning at 3rd string or 2nd string. With the practice field now being their main battlefield PB's [position battles] soon ensued. Only Tennessee Volunteer QB Barrington Maxwell and Louisville Cardinal QB Donquavius Jamison were able to see minimal PT (playing time) in 4th quarter blowouts for their respective teams. Across the blocks, all others were vying to position themselves higher than their initial placement.
Meanwhile a majority of our FS's were in the same boat looking to climb the depth chart primarily contributing on special teams. Some however made big splashes attaining starting positions at their schools from the onset. Of the 4 penciled in starters standouts Arizona State Sun Devil FS Fahiem Gilliam and Michigan State Spartan FS Colten Redwood did the best hitting the ground running, making good first impressions tallying up tackles and contributing to their teams defensive backfields .Virginia Cavalier FS Tyce Kituba and Kentucky Wildcat FS Deuie Kincaid found their starting duties a bit more difficult to adjust to at the collegiate level, both found themselves demoted to 2nd string after wk 1.
In our Epsilon Block of 3 CB's and 1 QB only Illinois Illini CB Sangodele Diallo started as a freshman. Demoted after wk 1 he was resilient and fought his way back to the coveted #1 CB position. NXG (Next Generation) selections, Ole Miss Rebel CB Icarus"IT3" Trevins III and Oregon State Beaver CB Thornton"Thief" Primrose II clicked from day one in Warriorz Abroad HS camp and have elected to keep in touch with each other. Trevins III is the grandson of Icarus Trevins (a former highly touted CB in HS and college) while Primrose II is the youngest son of another former heralded CB that played the position at both the HS and collegiate levels Thorn Primrose. The two recruits related to each other immediately they shared the pressures of maintaining their family names with both families known to produce stellar DB's. They agreed to a friendly competition to see who would have the better freshman year and overall college career. Both began the journey as #3 CB's.IT3 currently has the edge ascending to the #1 CB position for the Rebels by wk 4 picking off a pass in practice during his PB to seal the promotion . While Thief found himself still at #3 on the depth chart by wk 4 but coming up big for the Beavers on defense garnering back to back wks of 10 tackle performances from his nickelback position . Both dynamic talents at the position they both scored KO (kickoff return) TD's for their squads in wk 1. (Beta block FS Tyce Kituba was the only other "warrior" to score via KO TD so far taking one to the house wk 2 for the Cavaliers against Oregon).
Lone Epsilon block QB Toussaint Henry-Ball found himself in the same boat as most other freshman QB's looking to impress on the practice field with hopes of seeing some type of PT he began as Mizzou's #3 QB, by wk 4 he had moved up to 2nd string.
They've just got their feet wet guys. The next four years these young men will be tested both physically and mentally as they all toil on practice fields and in weight rooms heading down parallel roads that each one privately wishes will end with glorious college careers, numerous accolades and perhaps a shot at the next level.
In the 1st of 16 player spotlights. We look a little closer at the CB who goes by the moniker "Thief". Pretty cool nickname for a CB huh? Here this the player spotlight for Oregon State Beaver freshman CB Thief Primrose II.

THE PICK SIX QUESTIONAIRE:
1. First off where does the nickname "Thief"come from?
Primrose II:"Lol man you know everybody ask me dat. It comes from my mom actually.
People be like "Were you stealing stuff as a kid or something... shoplifting?"
lol I be like naw man. I'm the youngest child in my family. I got a older brother
and sister and my mom says my older brother put her through a lot when we
was growing up like getting into trouble and stuff you know she always says
her first child almost drove her out her mind, my sister she felt was like the
* continuation of herself, she always says she took her essence.
When I came along she said from the moment I
was born. When she looked at me and held me, she said I "stole" her heart
she gave just would call me her lil "Thief". She call me "Thie" (rhymes with
"he'). Its kinda like our lil thing, it just kinda stuck. Its funny cause I did end up
really taking to the corner back position early on like since lil league I always
enjoyed it so it just all made sense. Its funny cause like when I hear it I never
like think of stealing property nothing like dat. Just interceptions, dat what I
wanna be known for taking."
2. What kind of music do you listen to, to get pumped up before a game?
Primrose II: "Before a game? Hmm, I like Kevin Gates, um Future got some slappers
right now I been listening to a lotta like older stuff my brother got me on
like stuff from the Cash Money/Master P No Limit era.I dont really just sit
there with head phones on or nothing like dat before a game, I like to
visualize a lot, like how I predict the whole game's gonna be.That's how I
like to prepare."
3. So you and Icarus Trevins III are buddies?
Primrose II: "Man dat's my bro man, cause we got sooo much in common.I play corner
he play corner. My daddy played corner and so did his grandaddy and
his daddy did a little I think too so its like we connect ,plus with that he
knows and understands like how sometimes it can be a lotta pressure ya
know its hard enough just trying play the position but then its like you part
of like a family legacy. I mean just having your last name and being on
whoever field you playing on, you gotta show up, you gotta shine. So he
gets that cause he's going through the same thang ya know. Dats my
homie right there we like brothers for real"
4. How do you think it will feel to get that first college INT?
PII: "Awesome man, I look forward to it for real hopefully its a pick six ya know.
Wherever I'm at on the field I'mma try to make it one. Matter of fact me and Ick
(IT3) got a bet on who gone get their's first. I think I'mma win dat one."
5. How would you describe your game?
PII: " Dangerous... like wit the ball in my hand as a returner or even if its a pick I
feel like I can take it to the house ya know. I just want opposing quarterbacks
to like just feel like "Dang if I slip up dat #2 gonna make me pay" I just try to use
my instincts and take advantage of opportunities whenever they come my way."
6. Okay last one, who are you top 3 favorite players all time at your position?
PII: " Okay, dat's a good one.. okay my top 3 all time corners? Gotta have the OG
Primetime on there Deion Sanders I've worn #2 since lil league because that
the same number he wore in college and in practice in the pros. Um..Patrick
Peterson because he's always been a beast since he played at LSU he's such
great athlete ya know. and for 3 I'mma say Richard Sherman because I really
like his game, he's a tall corner like me and he talks the talk be he also walks
the walk and my Pops always said if you gonna talk on the field you better be
able to back it up otherwise be quiet. So thats my top 3 Primetime, Peterson and
Sherman".
Well W.A. fans we've come to the end of this entry, tune in next time at the wk 8 check point to see how our Sweet 16 for '16 are progressing in their brand new world of NCAA football. Till next time everybody. I'm Zipper Carlisle and this is WARRIORZ ABROAD
