did you try returning it to microsoft? They fixed mine for free.

yeah after the red rings of death i returned it and it came back working again. unfortunately it still has trouble with certain games. halo 3 won't work at all online (the only way to play really) grand theft auto 4, ncaa football has trouble even getting past the opening credits, and nba 2k9 pisses me off the most.

i expect the game to freeze at some point in the first quarter, during which time i switch over and watch tv or sit and wait patiently. usually between 3-7 minutes will pass and the game will resume. if this happens then i am lucky, and will be able to play out the rest of the game. if the game doesn't freeze before then end of the quarter, then it will freeze between quarters, or during a substitution in the 4th quarter or during the player of the game screen. the key here is the in game highlights, but you can't turn them off so my system just bugs out when they come on and i pray for the best. too many roster edits during association always makes the freezes happen later on and kills my spirit or attempts to play with the rosters i want.

i feel like this means i need to buy an elite or one of the newer models. i just wish there was something else i could do. (like have an option to turn off in game highlights)

so i ended up buying a brand new ncaa 09 and it worked. that's good news but these games tend to stop working on my xbox after a couple of months never to function again. i'm not sure if its a problem with the discs, or if my xbox eats them up. nba however gave me serious problems out of the box. hopefully the problem won't get worse.

ha so twice i've played penn state in my new dynasty as michigan and twice i've won. both times the game i won on last second touchdowns, and both times the game froze before the end. this is the most frustrating thing ever, i might be switching to ps3 soon, does anyone have freezing problems with that system?
