A Beautiful Mind
Posted on November 11, 2008 at 02:05 AM.
I'm a moron and posted this under my blog description at first.

I watched this movie for the first time ever last night while OS was down. (You never realize just how much you're on OS until it's down) What an amazing movie and story. I can't believe I waited this long to watch it, but I'm glad I caught it on TV and recorded it.

It caused me to stay up later than normal last night because I was thinking about John Nash, and how his life was/is, and whether or not I'd be willing to put myself through the horror (BTW: I hate seeing horror in print) he experienced to bring such amazing things to the world, or if I'd rather just be myself, whatever that may be. Holy long sentence batman.

I came to the conclusion early this morning that as selfish as it might be, I'd rather be myself, than deal with paranoid schizophrenia and the hallucinations he saw, even if it meant not improving the world, or coming up something as amazing as he did. I'd like to think that I'd be willing to put the world before myself, but the more I thought about it last night, the more I know that isn't true.

What about you? Would you be willing to deal with schizophrenia and hallucinations, if it meant you could do something great?

A Beautiful Mind is a great movie. I especially liked the soundtrack.

I don't think I could handle something like schizophrenia. The ridicule and embarrassment would be too much for me.

Great movie, haven't seen it in awhile. I personally wouldnt deal with schizophrenia/hallucinations, I lose enough sleep constantly thinking and analyzing crap

Those would be my problems as well.

I embarrass myself enough as it is doing stupid things, and in part due to my hearing, I don't need schizophrenia to make it even worse.

I also sit up late at night thinking about things, that's why I'm always on OS late at night. I can't sleep, and all my friends are working or asleep, and it gets rather boring very quickly.

I really liked that movie too. If Russell Crowe wasn't such a jerk he would have won the Oscar over Denzel and rightfully so.

I'm with you though. I would rather be normal than a gifted contributing freak and I have a math degree!
