The Rockets head to Utah to take on Damian Lillard and the 4-0 Jazz. The Rockets have struggled so far this season and a win here could really get them going.
Jamaal Franklin starts the game off hot with a dunk over Lillard, followed by an and one, and a 3! The Rockets jump out to an early 8-1 lead! As the Rockets cool off and the Jazz get back to normal the score is 17 all with 4:45 left in the first. At the end of the quarter, the Rockets leads 33-29. Jamaal Franklin leads the team with 12 points followed by Kelly with 7 and Carter-Williams with 6.
McLemore leads the way in the second quarter(10 points), followed by MCW's aggressiveness in attacking the basket and earning Damian Lillard his fourth foul in just the second quarter. The Rockets lead at half, 65-47. Houston really brought the defense in the second quarter allowing only 18 points while scoring 32 of their own. Coach McHale was extremely pleased with his team at the half and he hopes they can continue to dominate this game.
At the half, Franklin and Mclemore have 14 ponts each and Carter Williams is the third player in double digits with 12. Franklin has 3 rebounds and 3 assists to add to his total, while MCW has 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals to add to his stat-line. As a team, the Rockets are 6/11 from the arc and 24/49 from the field.
The Rockets play a soilid third quarter and extend the lead to a score of 101-71. It looks like the young Rockets team has finally found themselves on the correct side of a blowout.
The smack down in Utah finally comes to an end as the Rockets take home the W with a score of 126-102
Mchale gave a lengthy interview to reporters after the game, here is some of it: "Our team came out here and played the way they are capable of. They limited second chance points, cut down the number of turnovers, and took great shots. The team is finally looking like a cohesive unit. They're playing for each other rather for themselves. This will be a team to watch out for if they continue this type of play. We still have a lot to work on though as we got very sloppy towards the end of the game"
