What's wrong with caring?
Posted on July 21, 2010 at 01:52 AM.
A few days ago, I posted some videos on my YouTube account showing what appears to be a glitch in NCAA 11 with CPU-controlled running backs wanting to cut to the inside all the time, even if it was away from wide open field and straight into a tackle. You can see the playlist here, and I posted them in the official NCAA 11 glitch thread.

Since then, I've gotten a few comments on the videos saying things like "every game has bugs, why keep complaining about them?" or "overall it's a good game, so quit whining and just don't buy the game." And I have to wonder... when did we get to this point?

You see it all the time in the video game world these days. Don't like paying for Xbox Live? "Just buy a PS3 then, fanboy." Wish the PS3 had cross-game chat? "Why would you want to talk to somebody you're not playing a game with? Everybody on Live is just a 12 year old baby anyway." It's unreal. I've never seen people be so adamant about wanting fewer options or less value for their money.

The bigger issue here seems to be people not understanding the value of constructive criticism. When I posted those videos, it wasn't to try to bash EA or the game. It was just to point out an obvious flaw so that it could be fixed, either in a patch this year or in next year's game. Contrary to popular belief, those of us discussing these issues don't want EA to stop making Madden or NCAA, we just want them to keep making those games better. That's called improvement and evolution, and is generally considered a pretty good thing.

Now, yes, some people have taken things a bit far, and have consequently become EA bashers, Sony bashers, Microsoft bashers, etc, etc. But does that mean the rest of us have to stop caring? Why should we just be happy with what we're given and shut up? How does that solve anything? But more importantly, why do people think that that's the best way to react to problems? It's a bit scary.

Agreed and well written..This has been a problem for years and to me the EA lovers are just as bad as the EA haters...They both should be dealt with the same way...Yea and that glitch has almost gotten me to put this baby up as there have been times that the CPU has a clear touchdown to the outside the mysteriously gets suctioned to the inside...
