Reactions to the Garza trade Stuck

Well, the Rangers and Cubs completed the first major trade of deadline days, and that leads to my new series of blogs, "CameRoN's Reaction Blog" Today, it happens that a deal was actually completed for Matt Garza, arguably one of the best pitchers on the market right now. The Rangers recieve a #2/3 guy who has an ace ability as proven so far this year. He can easily out-throw Derek "Dutchy" Holland for the #2 spot in a now stacked Texas rotation. this just proves that Texas will most likely stay in it for the long run. Now we have to wait and see if Garza get's his extention.

The Cubbies got back a GREAT haul for a "rental" player. They acquired Mike Olt, C.J. Edwards, Justin Grimm, and a (possibly 2 if they elect not to get Ramirez) PTBNL(s). Let's break it down starting with Olt. Olt has been subject to very serious vision problems that might have affected the haul for Garza. If vision problems improve, he can be easily a very good 3B. C.J. Edward has shown high upside from the system, and fills a huge need for Chicago, a legit SP prospect. That also leads to Grimm who, as well, is a legit pitching former prospect. He can fit right into the rotation. As for the PTBNL, I don't know who it is, but I will write a comment with my reaction.

Overall, the Cubbies got a GREAT package even without the PTBNLs being named. They did lose Garza, but Samardzija is easily the ace of the staff.
