The Sixers opened up the season with a show for their sell out crowd at the Wells Fargo Center tonight. The Sixers took home the season opener with a 140-122 win over the Denver Nuggets tonight. Evan Turner led the way for the Sixers, posting 31 points and 10 rebounds. Turner did not miss a shot the entire game, going 15-15 from the field.
"I really just felt on my game tonight." states Turner, who is now in his third year with the Sixers. "I'm glad I could help the team out tonight, and am glad to see all my hard work in the offseason paid off."
Though Turner had a spectacular game, he wasn't the only 76er who put up some great numbers. Nick Young hit 8 three pointers and finished with 33 points and 4 rebounds. Jrue Holiday also recorded a double double, with 15 points and 14 assists. Every active player for the Sixers tonight scored at least one point, while seven of them scored double digits (N. Young, Turner, Holiday, T. Young, Bynum, Wright, Allen).
"It was great seeing every guy have a part in the win." Notes Coach Doug Collins. "You can only get so far with one star player. The best teams in the league are the deep teams, and it is nice to see that we are one of those teams."
On the other side, the Nuggets also saw two players post double doubles, Kenneth Faried (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Ty Lawson (16 points, 16 assists).
The Sixers will hit the road next, playing the Knicks on Sunday. They then return home for another game against the Knicks on Monday.
