Thaddeus Young fell to an injury in the fourth quarter of the Sixers' win over the Raptors this week, and it showed as the Sixers fell tonight to the Golden State Warriors, with a final score of 122-117. The team seemed lost on the court without their leader, Young, with Point Guard Jrue Holiday committing 7 turnovers.
"The team just seemed out of it." stated Coach Doug Collins, following the game. "Thaddeus Young is a large part of our team, but his injury can't get us too down. We need to win the upcoming games, whether Thad is on the court or not."
Perhaps the only good thing that came from this game was the breakout of backup Point Guard and Sixth Man Jeremy Lin, who tallied 21 points and 5 assists in 19 minutes on the court.
Shortly after the game, the Sixers traded SF Maurice Harkless to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for second year player PF Lance Thomas.
Thomas has played in 90 games in his NBA career, averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in 7.6 minutes a game.
"I'm a bit sad to be leaving the great city of New Orleans, but I am excited for the chance I will be getting is Philadelphia." stated Thomas. "It's is a new beginning for me, and I am looking forward to showcasing my skills for a great organization."
"I think Lance has some great potential." said General Manager Cam Hartman. "I didn't think Harkless was getting the playing time he deserved, so I sent him to a team who will give him minutes. Lance Thomas will get a chance to showcase his talents for the team in practice, and Coach Collins and I will decide his role from there."
The Sixers will being headed to Los Angeles to play the Clippers in the Staples Center Wednesday night. Coach Collins stated that Jeremy Lin will get a chance to start for the team, following his breakout performance tonight.
