I think I might quit my job.

So today was the worst work day of my life.

It started off with a 45 minute drive. To a store I shouldn't even be working in. Using gas that I shouldn't even be paying for.

Once I get there I'm told to call my regional manager. Of course she doesn't answer so I decide to do something while I'm waiting for her. So I receive a shipment and put it all away. Then she calls back and the manager answers. He lets me know that I am going back to the store I usually work at for the day. Which is another 45 minute drive.

So lets do the math here.

45 minutes there
+45 minutes back

It's about an hour and a half of driving. And probably 5-10 dollars in gas thrown away.

Keep in mind... I don't get reimbursed for any of that gas either.

Then I get back to the store I haven't been to in a week and a half. It's a mess, and I can't deal with it. So I spend a good hour or more just cleaing everything and organizing all the paperwork left out and about.

Then the question of what my schedule will be for the remainder of the week comes up. Turns out I am taking the guy that was working in my place for the weeks schedule. GUESS WHAT?!? He already had a day off this week. So I call my manager who isn't around and he tells me theres nothing he can do, and I need to get over it and suck it up.

Now I just worked a 7:45AM-8PM shift yesterday (don't forget the hour and a half of driving I have to do either). So I am in need of my two days off for the week, especially with christmas coming up and the long hours I will work.

At this point I want to walk out and never come back to work ever again.

So I call the regional manager, and she tells me my manager should be giving me call soon to tell me what is going to happen.

He calls eventually and tells me I am gonna get my 2 days off. YAY!!!

NO. NOT YAY.

He gives me Saturday off which is the best day for sales for where I work. I am usually good for $80-120 in commission. This is even worse than working 6 days. He is basically taking money out of my pocket. Kinda like what has been happening on the drive to work the last week and a half.

The final solution is I work a half day one day and another half day another day. Which still doesn't give me a true two days off.

I know I could just get over this and move on, but I feel I have done a great job working here, and I deserve some more respect.

If the job market wasn't so horrible I would be out of here yesterday. I have to get out though.

What do you guys think?

Maybe start looking into other opportunities while still at this job? If you find one that is better jump at it.

Word of caution -- be careful if you decide to go the "quit" route. It is a tough market out there, and may get worse before better. Right now, I'm still trying to get a job, and I've been unemployed for about a month and a half.

Also, if you quit - you may not be entitled to unemployment.

Hang in there man. I hate my job and would LOVE to walk out. Just hang in there until the New Year and get through the holidays brother.

Issues arise, no matter where you work. It's always something annoying, wheter that be co-workers, the work, the attitudes, the disorganization, I could go on and on. If you hate it so much, just look for another job, while still working. That way you know you aren't out of a check. Quitting isn't the best option, as much as you feel it might be.

Hang in there friend. Start looking now, but don't go off the deep end and just quit. It won't be worth it.

as much as you probably hate me for the replies I've had to your threads/posts, don't quit your job. Bronco, nyisles and chubby know what they're talkin about.
