Sophomore Year - Week 14
Posted on November 5, 2011 at 11:51 PM.
Buck Rogers and the Florida Gators are riding high after their Week 13 victory over Auburn. Florida finished with an undefeated SEC regular season and currently have the nations longest winning streak. Rogers continues to throw the ball around and leads the nation in passing yards with over 3,500. The single season passing mark for the Florida Gators is well within reach if Rogers plays well against the rival Seminoles.

Game - #1 Florida (11-0) vs. Florida State (4-7)

Rogers and the Gators came out swinging for the fences and Rogers was able to complete his first 5 passes of the game on the opening drive to lead Florida to a 7-0 lead when he hit his tight end for a TD. Early in the 2nd quarter, the Gators head coach decided to go for it in Florida State territory on fourth down. Rogers connected on a quick pass to M. Jackson who broke free to get the Gators second TD of the game.

After Florida State responded with a TD, Rogers was trying to get some points late for the Gators with a 2-minute drill. Rogers made a bad read and tried to force a pass into tight coverage and threw an interception. The halftime score was 14-7 in favor of Florida.

Florida got the ball first in the second half and didn't take long to score. Rogers connected with WR Mason for an 80 yard TD. Mason is getting playing time due to the season ending injury to D. Maynard and is making the most of it as he has became the most targeted receiver in the past few weeks. Florida State would not go away as they scored quickly on their first possession as well.

Rogers would move the ball through the air and with his legs to lead the Gators back into the endzone and extend the Florida lead to 28-14. Florida State would storm down the field and score just before the end of the 3rd quarter. Rogers threw his second interception of the game and Florida State would tie the game at 28 midway through the 4th quarter.

Rogers used an effective 2 minute drill and took advantage of a blown coverage when he connected with Mason on a 51 yard TD. Rogers broke the single season passing record for Florida on the deep pass play. Florida State would fumble the ball and the Gators would run out the clock to escape Tallahassee with a 35-28 victory.

Rogers earned player of the game honors. He ended up 16/30 for 389 yards with 5 TDs and 2 INTs.

Rogers and the Gators look to defend the SEC Championship and repeat as they travel to Atlanta to face the SEC West representatives, the Arkansas Razorbacks.
