Sophomore Year - Week 13
Posted on October 31, 2011 at 04:48 AM.
Rogers and the Gators have clinched a spot in the SEC Championship with their victory last week over South Carolina, but Florida has their sights set on continuing their winning ways to earn a spot in the BCS Championship game. First things first though, as they look to avenge their last lost from a season ago when they host the Auburn Tigers. Despite having a 5 TD game last week, Rogers seemingly has lost his foothold at the top of the Heisman list. Rogers stated that he is not worried about trophies at this point of the season, his goal is to beat the Tigers because he struggled against them last year.

Game - #18 Auburn (7-3) vs. #1 Florida (10-0)
Florida would get on the board first when Rogers would break the single season passing TD mark with his 39th passing TD of the season. After Auburn tied the score, Rogers would connect on a slant route and the receiver would break free to score a long TD pass. The Tigers would respond and once again tie up the game at 14-14. Rogers was not phased and would put the Gators in the lead when he scrambled into the end zone from 5 yards out.

The Tigers were unable to respond and the halftime score was 21-14 in favor of Florida. The Gators got the ball first in the second half but Rogers would force a pass into traffic and the Tigers would take advantage by intercepting the throw. Auburn would capitalize and tie the score at 21-21.

On the first play of the 4th quarter, Rogers would hit his favorite target D. Maynard on a crossing route. Maynard would end up breaking his leg in a gruesome collision. Maynard is expected to miss the rest of the season. Rogers and the Gators would shake off the loss of Maynard and get the ball into the end zone on a short passing TD. Rogers and the Gators would add a field goal and garbage time TD to make the final score 38-21.

Rogers was named player of the game finishing 20/33 for 336 yards with 3 passing TDs and rushed for 39 yards and 2 TDs.

The Gators will finish the regular season with an unblemished record in SEC play and will travel to Tallahassee to face off with Florida State in a Battle for the Governor's Cup in week 14.
