Buck Rogers enters week 7 looking forward to a key matchup with the LSU Tigers. Rogers leads the NCAA in passing yards with 2,020 after 6 games. Rogers and the Gators looked sluggish in practice with several poorly thrown balls and dropped passes.

Game - #21 LSU (4-1) at #3 Florida (5-0)

Both teams came out excited for the primetime matchup. Fans were pumped up in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and both teams traded punts early in the game. The Gators were held on 4th and goal from the 1-inch line early in the 2nd quarter. The Gators defense would get the first points of the game as they were able to tackle the LSU halfback in the end zone for a safety. On the ensuing drive, Rogers and the Gators were able to once again move the ball inside the 1-yard line. On another 4th and goal attempt, Rogers would scamper into the end zone to give the Gators a 9-0 lead.

The Tigers offense would get on track and score on their next drive. Rogers would complete 5 straight passes to get the Gators into the endzone again, pushing the lead to 16-7 with just under a minute left in the first half. The Tigers would not be successful on their attempt at a one-minute drill and were forced to give the ball back with :11 seconds left. Rogers completed a deep hail mary pass and was able to spike the ball with :01 second left. The Gators would add a last second field goal to take a 19-7 halftime lead.

The Gators received the ball first in the second half. Rogers led the Gators down the field but would get injured after 2 straight sacks. Rogers' backup would connect with WR D. Maynard for a 30 yard TD to extend the Gators lead to 26-7.

Rogers would return to the game. His first pass attempt after re-entering the game would be intercepted and ran back for a TD. Rogers would lead the Gators on a long drive that culminated with a late TD pass. The call was questionable as the Tigers had used all their timeouts. Rogers stated after the game that he was prepared to kneel on the ball but was told to get the TD.

The final score was Florida - 33, LSU - 14. Rogers was named player of the game as he finished 18/27 for 326 with 2 TDs and 1 INT. Rogers also added 25 yards rushing and 1 TD. Rogers was sacked 7 times by the LSU defense.

The Gators have back to back bye weeks in week 8 and 9 before a face-off with their bitter rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs.
