Buck Rogers and the Gators are riding high after an impressive win over Kentucky. Rogers does feel that there are definitely areas of his game that need improvement, "I tried to force several passes last week and I am lucky that only one of them was intercepted" stated Rogers at the weekly press conference. Rogers has Gator-nation thinking about more than an SEC Title once again. Rogers was on fire on the practice field and felt that it was the best preparation he has ever had as a Gator.
Game - #5 Florida (5-0) vs. Ole Miss (3-1)
Ole Miss started the game with a three and out on offense. Rogers had and exceptional game and started it off by completing 3 passes on the opening drive, finishing it with a TD pass on a slant route. Rogers continued his hot play on the Gators second drive, converting several third downs with his legs and arm. Greg Bell would score from 1 yard out to give the Gators a 14 point lead.
Late in the 2nd quarter, Rogers would connect with his favorite receiver for a 52 yard TD pass. The Gators got the ball back late in the half and looked to be out of time when an Ole Miss defender made a bad break on the ball and let TE Wilson take a pass from Rogers 85 yards for a TD and the 28-0 halftime lead.
Rogers opened the second half with a 79 yard TD pass to WR Maynard on the Gators first possession. The Rebels would score their first points of the game making the score 35-7 as the 4th quarter began. Rogers would connect once again with Maynard for a TD, this time from 38 yards.
Rogers would spend the rest of the day watching as the Gators had a comfortable lead. Rogers finished was named player of the game, finishing 14/14 for 379 yards and 5 TDs. Maynard moved into the national spotlight as well with his 215 yard and 3 TD receptions. Maynard has over 800 yards and 10 TDs receiving in the Gators first 6 games.
The Gators have a big match-up with LSU in Week 7.
