Sophomore Year - Week 3

Buck Rogers has had outstanding performances in the Gators first two games of his sophomore season which has led to a lot of notoriety. Rogers success has put him on many people's radar as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Some pundits want to see if he is able to perform against SEC caliber defenses before they will buy into the hype. The stress of being a Heisman candidate may have got to Rogers a little bit as he struggled at practice this week.

Game - FCS Cupcake vs. #6 Florida (2-0)
In an all too familiar scene, it was pouring down rain in Gainesville as the Florida Gators hosted the Cupcakes out of the FCS West. Rogers led the Gators into the end zone on the Gators first 3 possessions with TD passes of 15, 74, and 3 yards. Rogers would make his first mistakes of the season on the Gators next two drives as he threw interceptions. The Gators defense was dominant despite of the turnovers and shutout the FCS Cupcakes.

After the interceptions, Rogers led the Gators into field goal range but the kicker was not able to get the 3 points. A quick turnover by the Gators' defense was all that Rogers needed as he was able to connect on a deep TD pass, his fourth of the day to make the halftime score 28-0.

Rogers would add two more TD passes in the 3rd quarter to put the gators up 49-0. Rogers would watch the 4th quarter from the bench. Rogers was named player of the game for the 3rd straight week, finishing 15/22 for 376 yards with 6 TDs and 2 INTs.

The Gators finish their tune-up games and begin SEC Conference play when they travel to Tennessee to renew their rivalry with the Volunteers.
