Buck Rogers looked sharp in week 1 against Eastern Michigan and continued to impress the coaching staff in practice for week 2. "Rogers is making huge strides as it relates to his decision making and understanding of defenses, which may allow us to eventually give more control of the offense over to him" stated the Gators head coach at his weekly press conference today.
Game - Bowling Green (0-0) vs. #7 Florida (1-0)
The Gators opened the game by forcing a safety on defense. The Gators' offensive gameplan included a heavy dose of running plays, opening up with 8 straight rushes, including a 7 yard TD by Greg Bell. The first pass of the game by Rogers was completed inside of the 3 yard line. Rogers would run it in to give the Gators a 16-0 lead. On the Gators next drive, Rogers would connect with his favorite target, TE Wilson, for a 76 yard TD pass.
The route was on for the Gators. Rogers would add two more TD passes in the 2nd quarter, one from 46 yards and another from 1 yard out to make the halftime score 37-0. Rogers throw two more TD passes on the first two drives of the 2nd half to give the Gators a 51-0 lead. Rogers would sit out the 4th quarter and the Gators would win 58-0.
Rogers was named player of the game, and once again player of the week for the NCAA and SEC with his performance. He finished 14/18 for 326 yards and 5 TDs passing and added 18 yards rushing with 1 TD.
Rogers and the Gators have another tune-up game in week 3 as they host a cupcake out of the FCS.
