Practice
Coming off of the big win against Georgia, Buck Rogers has become a hometown hero in Gainesville. Rogers has struggled in the second half of games and needs to work hard in practice to clean that up. Practice this week was average. The emotional high of the win over Georgia and the talk about a week 11 match up with South Carolina have seemingly caused the Gators squad to run through the motions this week on the practice field.

Game - Vanderbilt (2-6) at #15 Florida (6-2)
Florida came into this game needing a victory and some help to ensure that next weeks match-up with South Carolina was a chance to clinch the SEC East for a spot in the SEC Championship. Florida won the toss and chose to get the ball first in the second half. The Gators defense held Vandy on their opening drive and in a familiar scene, Rogers led the offense into the end zone with an opening drive score when he connected on a slant route over the middle.

After both defenses made stops, Rogers would scramble and release the ball awkwardly right into the hands of a Vandy defender. Rogers was able to push the defender out at the 1 yard line, but Vandy would score on their next play. They did however miss the extra point. As the first half was winding down, Rogers hit his receiver on a slant route in stride and watched as the receiver would go untouched into the end zone to give the Gators a 14-6 half time lead.

Rogers second half struggles continued as he would overthrow a seam route and have the ball hit the safety directly in the hands for his second interception of the game. The Gators defense was able to get the ball back without surrendering points. Rogers was able to recover and chew some clock as he led the Gators down the field into position to add another TD on a 10 yard rush from Scott Smith. Vandy would add a TD but would fail to recover an on side kick and the Gators were able to run down the clock.

DE George Sykes was named player of the game because of the havoc he caused in the Vandy backfield. Sykes had 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 FF, and 1 FR. Rogers was a serviceable 17/27 for 162 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Once again, Rogers needs to find a way to stop forcing passes and giving the ball away.

Florida travels to Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks.
