Freshman Year - Week 1
Posted on September 27, 2011 at 10:52 PM.
Buck Rogers worked hard in the summer after high school to prepare for his freshman season at the University of Florida. This included moving to Gainesville so that he could be involved in the summer weight lifting and conditioning programs. The programs paid off and there was noticeable improvements. One workout, "the triple rainbow", improved Rogers' throw power and accuracy and another one, "the long ball", improved his throw power and awareness. Rogers should see long term improvements from both workouts.

First Practice
Rogers was notably excited for his first chance to get on the field as a Gator but was flustered. It will take some time for Rogers to learn the offense, learn how to read the defenses, and get used to the speed of the SEC. After performing well, a late interception brought Rogers back to earth.

Gator's Head Coach noted that Rogers does not yet have his full trust but based on the talent that they see he will be firmly positioned in the 2nd string role and will not redshirt. Rogers does not expect to see game time unless the Gators have a big lead or injuries prompt him to get some playing time.

Game vs FAU
Buck Rogers entered the game early in the 4th Quarter when the starting QB was injured. The extent of the injury is TBD. Rogers would play the rest of the game but was only trusted to hand the ball off. His only pass attempt was incomplete but the Gators won the game 24-7. Rogers will practice with the first team next week but still does not have the coach's trust to challenge for the starting role.
