I have decided to back up and punt (to use a football phrase). I have learned alot about how to manage things in hc 09 over the last few weeks. Except for my family and my job...this pretty much takes up the rest of my time.
I started with the Browns...probably 4 or 5 times before I had any clue what I was doing. I won the sb after 3 years then wanted to go somewhere else (I had made a mess of the salary cap). So I started a new career with the Titans and lucked out winning the sb in my 2nd season with them and figured what was the challenge then. So I figured...I live in NC...why not the Panthers...worked with them and won the sb after my 4th year. But once again....I didnt do great with my long term cap issues (I still hadnt gotten the hang of trading). But once again...I yeared for new pastures so I started over AGAIN with the Jets. This has been a great learning experience. I have gotten better with the cap and management of the team. I did have a short stint with the Eagles after winning the sb with the Jets...but there was no way to make that team happy...so I quit that game and went back to the Jets. I am in 2015 now...just finished pre-season and went 4-0. I won 2 of the games by huge blowouts. I just had 19 draft picks in the last draft and am looking at 17 in the upcoming draft. I had started a dynasty thread and was not doing well with it (to be honest...who wants to read about someone who has completed the rebuilding) and one of the posters on it commented after 1 of my games...it seemed almost too easy now. I had to agree with him. So I have decided to go back to my roots...
Tonight I am going to start with the Browns. But I am going to set up some ground rules. I am going to make sure my gm doesnt have any of the "insider" special skills. I am going to also limit the special skills my coaches can get...just not sure which ones I am going to eliminate yet. I am also going to play every game. I know this is going to take more time...but I only have 1 more month of school left so I can play more over the summer (how sad is that...I will spend the evenings of my summer vacation playing football...lol) I also want to limit my scouting some...just not sure how. I think it will be to not do any individual workouts. To be honest...I rarely use them the way they are supposed to be. I will just pick random players out of the top 50 and have them do it. It is funny to watch players drop out of the top 5 after you see what their pot is. I also found that if I have someone projected to go at a certain place the iwo can cause them to jump up the draft board like crazy. So I just use my data collection and decide from that. I am also going to read up on how to select the draft path. I have had the english path quite a bit so I want something new there. I am also going to put all of my notes up about the Browns and start from scratch there as well.
So here we go again...but this is what I love about this game...it is random with a new challenge every time. Who knows...if anyone is interested I may do a dynasty thread on this one...just start from the beginning. I may go ahead and start and see if anyone reads it...if not...guess I can just stop....what the hey...I love this game either way!!
